Big bang of late is being played pretty much constantly on channel 9 in melbourne (2 eps 2 times a week or something like that).
My old man watches it every time its on AND downloads it when its online and watches it then.
When I ask him why hes watching it on TV his response is "I havent seen this one"

I thought it was funny for a while, now its meh, but im still watching it, due to me watching too many shitty series.
non-geeks that want to watch something "geeky" - pretty much like all those people that had their first and last contact with comics when they watched "the avengers" and now claim "i LOVE comics!"Maybe this is where I'm going wrong, what audience is it actually aimed at?
the few episodes i've seen, were a bland mix of stereotypes. geeks portrayed as socially dysfunct young men, women being objects of desire/"blonde bimbos" (what's penny's last name? ohwait, she has none ...) ...
it's less about portraying geeks and nerds in a funny way, but about portraying the phantasies held by non-geeks about geeks and nerds.
in short - big bang theory can't hold a candle to community.

3 of the actors are somewhat funny and really go for the geek stereotype. The fouth isn't funny, nor very intelligent, nor a geek. It's like they thought making him wear glasses and telling everyone that he has a Phd would somehow make him fit right in. Yet he's been screwing the blondie for a while now.
Being way to harsh on a 20minute tv show... there are far worse tv show and it probably delivers laughs more consistantly than Community, just doesn't have the huge amazing eps like Commmunity does (thus community is better imo)

I once got told about 5 months ago that they were up to season 8 of big bang.
When I called bullshit on this and then presented episode lists showing they were up to season 5(?) I was told I was still wrong.
I feel this sums up the intelligence of people who enjoy big bang.
