Will prolly start my first HC character(s) this weekend. SC Wiz is lvl 51 and just started Hell. Will roll a WD for the first glorious death.
Vulnerant omnes, ultima necat.
You were right Cerzi, it seems like the AH falls off a cliff after lvl 45 or so
If you can't tank the goo (you should be able to on monk and barb, my melee wiz could too), just use a skill that'll let you do damage while you focus entirely on not getting trapped in it. Sentry gun, wd pets/dots, hydra etc.
So I've made about a million gold selling tomes of blacksmithing on the AH (Hell level plans), and I think it's mainly thanks to some tryhard attempting to game the market. It seems he keeps buying them up as soon as I list them. At first I was selling stacks of 20 at 6k each, and he'd buy them up and list them at 10k. Over time the price has shifted up due to him buying up more and more, and me just relisting fresh tomes a few k beneath his absurd price. So my last sale was at 13k PER TOME, after he had raised the price of all the ones he bought up to an absurd 18k/unit.
Maybe it's actually a whole load of people and it's just a coincidence. But it seems like someone out there is in the process of losing a *lot* of money by thinking they can control the supply of tomes.
I'm fine with it though, it's put me over the 2 million gold mark, which feels good man.
I think it might just be the market at work. Given the state of the auction house for high-level items, the tomes are a decent way to be able to get hold of high-level rares without actually bashing the later acts of hell. Price will likely remain high as long as the number of people able to farm HC hell remains relatively limited. Still, 13-18k sounds absurdly high- I suppose you need anything up to 5-6 of these to craft one item? That's 60k+ just for the books, plus gold costs and essences, which makes for a steeeep cost of doing business.
Me, I just leveled my DH to 51 in Act 3 NM, going solo all the way. Splurged 300k on hammer jammers unique pants that advertise the wearer can't be touched, so I've got high performance expectations. I'm up to 2k dps and 22k hp, which is enough to farm for now until I hit 53 and can use my new crossbow. Also building up a gold reserve by selling higher-end gems, which is imo the best loot if you need cash.
I'm also lvl 51 DH in Act 3 NM :P
I finally had to give up on my bow I used all throughout NM. I love it but its DPS was too low. It had a big attack speed bonus and over +150 to vit :d
Anyway, how much HP do you guys recommend for fighting Azmodan? I'm at 23k right now with 5k DPS (doubled it by buying a new bow), but I'm still scared as hell in the areas leading up to Azmo and his spider gf.
I killed NM azmo on my 46 DH earlier (although it was with some 50s), with less than 20k hp. Really wasn't a problem with the standard vault/prep(heal)/ss combo, just be alert and focus on surviving and you should be fine.
I do generally think it's best to do stuff with other players as the DH though, it's the only class that I don't really feel safe soloing non-trivial stuff with.
The times I run into trouble is mostly when a fast enemy laughs at my caltrops. I don't know what to do about that because I can only kite with Vault which usually drains my discipline faster than their life.
Also, starting the game and seeing that you spawned next to a boss pack is dumb. I wish I'd start in town every single time.
I'm in the same icky spot, at the same place really. Farming Arreat Core without too much difficulty even though my dps is so much worse than yours. Bumped up my health to 27k by buying a new amulet though, which made me feel a lot safer derping about there. Honestly, when I get to 53 and switch to the next crossbow with double the dps of my current one, I think I'm going to try my luck and see how it goes. With your 5k dps I'd guess you should be just fine.
I took down Azmodan, it was a breeze really, but holy fuck Rakanoth!
Can you evade his charge move? I couldn't, and it took me down to half health instantly and there's pretty much no healing in that room and my pots are worthless. Got into the red and just barely got the cooldown on Preparation (with heal) in time. I thought I was fucked for sure.
Just lost my Monk to bloody Al-Qaeda daemons on Nightmare.
Balls.
Daemon Hunter is go!
I am indeed. Actually went Wiz...level 7 \o/
just hit 11 on my hardcore DH think my normal wiz is about 24 now quite enjoying it but god knows how people are completing the game in sub 15 hours. i'm only half way through act 2 and currently at like 12 hours play time on the wiz
