Right now I'm using Multishot with the reduced Hatred cost rune, Bola Shot for Hatred generation and Hungering Arrow with the pierce for single targets (it's almost as good as impale but with no cost).

I don't have any CC, but I use Vault with Tactical Advantage which gives insane mobility. Dashing for health globes works great too.

I'm not. I'm expecting to not have to play normal again with my next level 1 is all, if I dont want to.

Pretty fail that I do. Normal would be a lot less boring if I could try to pass it harcore and then do SC for difficulties above that.

Normal is a lot of fun when you're putting radiant square rubies into level 15 weapons Once you have a char over 30-40+ the potential for twinking in this game is second only to the original vanilla Everquest. You can make seriously hilarious/fun builds.

Whos up for a weekend HC run on US? Pugs are pugs and running alone is less fun.

Tempest Rush with tailwind rune, fleet footed passive, and boots with speed enchant seems like a really great survival/escape mechanism on the Monk. Pop serenity for immunity, then move through anything in your way at 150% speed for up to ~15 seconds while also knocking back & snaring everything.

I want to try something like this long-ranged kiting Monk build once high enough:

Fuck me I love hardcore hell. Finished act 1 without too many near-disasters, with a monk, DH and WD - all good guys I met playing pubs during nightmare and working well with them. We were taking a lot of risks - unlike nightmare there were quite a few champion packs that I couldn't just sit and tank, so we had to kite things around a lot with me and the monk jumping in and out of melee.

Learned some really important things: The most dangerous place to be is at the start of a new, unexplored area. The first thing you should try and do when entering a new zone (indoors or outdoors) is try to clear a space where you can kite stuff if you run into a tough pack. Outdoors, this usually just means exploring slowly outwards in all directions at once. Clear zones completely before moving on, so that at worst you can kite stuff back into the old zone.

Indoor areas, you want to look for places where there's a connected loop in the path, a series of hallways that you can kite round and round indefinitely. Clearing one of these should be the 1st priority when entering a new level, and you want to make sure you know which direction you have to run to get there at all times. The worst possible thing you can do is run away into unexplored terretory, followed by running into a dead end. Running to the zone entrance is your best last resort, but if you all leave the fight then you'll probably want to reset the game. Not a good idea trying to load into a zone that has a ton of arcane/mortar/horde guys camping the zone-in. Outdoors, it's easy to run into a dungeon (ideally one youve cleared) and then tp out safely.

Anyway, basically Hell is a huge fucking rush, mainly because I'm not overgeared for it so every elite fight is intense as a game can get. After we killed butcher only the DH and me decided to stay. We re-ran Trailing the Coven, had some close calls (arcane invul horde was scary as fuck, we spent 10 mins running around an empty zone before we killed it). After some epic battles, we made it to Leoric's mansion. Maybe it was tiredness, but somehow, during the first room where tons of stuff charges you, my level 56 DH partner with 40k hp gets instagibbed (literally full to zero a blink of an eye). After I see him die I lose my shit compeletly and run screaming out of that mansion and TP the hell out before I even ask what happened.

After that I'm scared as fuck to continue, so will most likely be taking my pansy ass back to Act3/4 NM to farm up s'more.

Also: main reason I'm not overgeared for Hell is because the AH is a ghosttown for 50+ gear. For everyone complaining that the AH ruins the game (because 90% of what you wear you buy from it), hardcore is the solution (just like most other complaints). The 50+ hardcore game feels more like Diablo2, with item-for-item trading taking precedent over using the AH. Good rares are more valuable than anyone can really afford, so it's a game of bartering with the people you play with to get many upgrades. It also means there's some hope for the blacksmith for 50+ gear.

Fuck that first mansion room, lost my second HC char to the mob in there by being stupid. Actually just fuck all of highlands - lost 2/3 of all my HC dudes in that zone.

Killed Diablo, wasn't too hard, but I did get trapped in one of the cages once. Apparently SS doesn't work on it.
I'm disappointed that you don't get titles like you did in D2 =(

Right now I'm using Caltrops, Smoke Screen, Vault and Preparation.
I really want to use Shadow Power (the life leech skill) but I can't fit it in.
I tried dropping Caltrops but you really need some sort of snare. Vault I use all the time too. Smoke Screen I don't use nearly as often but there are still situations where it saves your life. Need one more slot =(

Yeah im trying to fit Caltrops too, lazy snare - best snare. Makes kiting much easier in many situations (but drains discipline). Working on act 2, soon i'll meet Magda (or whatever).

If you really want to fit Shadow Power in, I'd drop Vault. Smoke Screen should be enough do get you out, with either the extended duration or the move speed rune.

To be honest though, I didn't find Shadow Power's lifesteal to be significant enough at high levels (SC mind you) to make a difference.

I would be using Shadow Power much more often if they would nerf the amount of lifesteal and increase the duration.

e: Vault w/ Tumble rune is p awesome.

Why do any of you play with the level of lag? I have died multiple times in SC due to warping around and shit. I would rage like a thousand suns if I lost a HC character to lag.

I just use it as a heal, not to tank.

Regarding D3 vs D2 though, the ability to overlevel and twink via the auction house makes up for no TPs and S&E. Fighting the Act bosses / Ancients in D2 untwinked solo is scarier than any fights I've had yet. In D2 if you were untwinked you had way worse gear than in D3. I know it will get worse though.

I have a fuckton of HC hours logged and haven't lost a single char to lag yet. Again, can't compare SC and HC directly because everything is different: the lag that killed you may not have killed you if you were playing HC, because you would have better gear / more hp / defensive skills etc.

Also if there's properly bad lag then you don't fight anything that could kill you if you went afk for 10 seconds. One thing I noticed around launch was that each act seemed to have its own servers associated with it, so if you had huge lag playing your level 30 in Act3 then you could switch to a level 1 in Act1 and have 40ms ping. Was pretty noticeable as the laggiest act went from 1 to 4 over the course of a few days. Haven't seen that kinda lag in a while now though.

CYVOK from ASCN lost the first titan IIRC. Sirmolle was the head of BoB/IT Alliance
