Wormhole Space Redux (stop shitposting or I will start infracting)

Wormhole space is the new frontier in Eve Online.
It's the best thing CCP have created, and (possibly) the only thing they got right pretty much on release.
Unlike 0.0 where mega alliances fight over who can blue eachother first and blobbing is commonplace, wormhole space is .. er.. not quite as bad.

    Whoa, a year old

In that case may I share my proudest moment of W-space?
    It's only two years old.

    1. Can we haz the old thread back?

    2. WTF? http://exhale.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_r...ll_id=13421830

EDIT: from looking at the battle history it looks like exhale. had <10 pilots at first, but they kept coming back (maybe to try to save the capitals) and dying in the process. Although exhale started killing the hurricane blob later on, it looks like it was still ~10 vs 45 at any one time.

    Looking forward to the BR.

Naglfar was obviously being pressed into a bastardized tracking dread role, obviously didnt work too well. I have no idea wtf those thanatos were for, fits were all godawful. Looked kinda like a bait carrier u use when doing WH shenanigans(I'm not gonna outline the exact process, but I'm sure most relevant parties understand what I'm talking about here).

That also didn't work as they obviously got enough hurricanes in to kill everything exhale fielded :P

Looks like nothing went right on the WHers side.

I'm at work and no access to kb's and handy stuff like that so this BR might not be as accurate as I would like so if any one wants to correct me on any thing please feel free too. This is what happend from Cascades POV:

We were on a roam in welp caines when reports of a WH with bubble on it in one of our systems, several t3s have been reported. We send bait dread to it (asked to warp at 100) but he warped at 0, close to the hole. The idea was to drag them off it, but seeing as they were now on it we called for back up prober to come follow us.

We jump in, scout reports 1 thanatos on the other side of the hole. On our side they had several tier 3s, it wasn't many, 10 at most, probably closer to 5. Our fleet warps to the WH and starts to engage them

Every thing we target jumps through as expected, FC calls it to follow, 2/3rd of our fleet makes the jump okay, rest are stuck back in K space as the wormhole collapses.

The single thanny is joined by another almost as soon as we are through, it could be it was there all along but I seem to recall there being one initially. We take down a tengu and then one or two other tier 3s before turning on one of the thannys, it goes down, we turn to the second when nidd warps in and a third thanny, any thing dying at this point is coming back in other ships as we did a poor job of podding. This is where the game changes, all three carriers enter triage so we take down another thanatos.

At this point any thing that is on the field is kept up with reps quite significantly by their carriers in triage, but any thing new that comes in that the carriers do not have time to target gets killed. We keep trying to take the nidd down in the hope he was close to capping out, we had neuts on our canes but what any of us would of given for a bhaal at this point + also no ship scanner to determine cap.

They warp a naglafar in and seals his own fate by entering siege, so we switch from the nidd to that. After seeing the nag drop we opt to move on to the thannatos hoping it's triage tank won't be enough.

Try to imagine the scene, the fight had been going on for what seemed like an 30-45 minutes, we were dropping cans to provide people with spare ammo at this point and they had managed to refit some t3s, yet we were able to use ecm to keep them at bay for the most part.

Despite what we had killed, exhale had done a great job in coming back to the field and that nidd alone was turning the tide of the fight. I know what it's like living in a WH, you really do want to look after your shit so I would of expected nothing less.

The thanntos's tank breaks fairly easily and we manage to kill him, but in doing so we take huge drone losses to a bomber, this frees up a lot of the t3s to start targetting our stuff and they begin to insta pop scimitars, we realise it's time to go as that nidd was not going to go down, we move off the field in to a rolling safe, with exhale catching a few straggalers / slow warpers on it.

That back up prober I mentioned? Didn't make it in, we had a single probing Loki to try and guide us out, we found two worm holes but both were c5s, then disaster as our only prober has to log suddenly, leaving a gang of 30 trapped in the WH. Fortunatley we found a random prober in a helios floating around our fleet and paid him some isk to probe us out in low sec near obe. Arriving in Obe we docked up, only for us to get camped in station by a t3 pirate gang + guardians.

We undocked to begin engaging with what we had left (many people had logged as it was late for euros and this was a primarily euro fleet), and if I'm honest things weren't going all that great with their tanks holding, when out of nowhere NC. show up and start slaughtering everyone, we bug out and head to a WH in venal that took us back home.

I think I set off on the roam at around 18:30 game time, and I arrived home around 23:45, the exact time our next op was scheduled to leave . For me as an old bitter vet coming back to the game it was nice to see the extra dynamics random wh's popping up can do to a null sec roam. Was one of them nights in eve I won't forget easy, probably up there was vv-v JQA vs Supremacy or one of the hour long fights CA and SA used to have in u-qvwd. Cheers exhale.

Most of the time when a 0.0 blob comes to your wh it is easy mode. Mostly because they don't fully understand wh mechanics yet are quite willing to throw away a ton of BCs for that carrier kill.

In this case it looks like more of a numbers problem. 10 vs 45 is never easy.

Some random dudes decided to camp a C3 we connected to, after some people killed a Tengu and Legion of theirs (something like that). They sat on the hole on the low sec side for like half an hour with our very own fleet assembling right on the other side (don't need intel anyway).

After one carrier magically warped off going only 20m/s, we jumped through and started the fight with Aquila still five jumps out. We didn't really break their tank at all, but they were breaking ours so we had to keep jumping our bhaalgorns out and back in, to the point the hole collapsed. The moment Aquila arrived the hole thing turned the other why quite hard. We started bumping them apart, the moment their first carrier started going down:

00:02:29 Notify Master Blueorb has initiated self-destruct of their Archon, it will explode in 120 seconds.
00:02:26 Notify JinShu Gong has initiated self-destruct of their Thanatos, it will explode in 120 seconds.
00:02:21 Notify tyeke has initiated self-destruct of their Thanatos, it will explode in 120 seconds.
00:02:21 Notify rezilliant has initiated self-destruct of their Nidhoggur, it will explode in 120 seconds.

I think I wouldn't exaggerate much if I claimed that 5+ carriers per week self destruct on us. Wonder if CCP after 9 years are planning to fix it.

Alliance leaders burnt out/changed erry other week. Noone really wanted to be alliance leader. People got slightly bored due to no central direction beyond "let's just rage roll and rape random idiots for fun lulz."

EN24 got it p. wrong, I personally haven't been in long, but we never really had many issues winning fights we wanted to win til RIGHT at the end (exhale fight, will elaborate later).

Basically, we had plenty of FCs, plenty of pvpers, but noone to tell them what to do. Corps started drifting off doing their own thing, some people just said "fuck it, Imma go solo in kspace til someone tells me what to do", and people who didn't want to do that just stopped bothering to log in every day, waiting for people to tell them what to do.

I wasn't on for the Exhale thing, but my understanding is the whole "meh, cba to rage roll or pos spin while waiting for alliance leadership to form" hit critical mass just about then, and noone was in the hole/active, so we couldn't form a big enough fleet for that.

After that, the call was made to just dissolve the alliance as corps were doing just fine on their own individually, and could go in their own directions as CEOs saw fit, thus leading to more people logging back in.

We're all mostly still spacebros and are friendly, just each corp is going off and doing their own thing without feeling "obligated" to stay in one hole and wait on an alliance leadership that noone wanted to form/lead.

(Just my personal take on it from my POV, others might have different, but that's what I saw happened)

EDIT - Or, for a tl;dr - We died from "hyper organized dictatorship withdrawal syndrome" (ie we were so used to a strong central leadership telling us what to do with objectives 24/7/365, we literally didn't know what to do without one)

Nicely sums up the fight. We were not expecting null sec people to jump in and had only collapse carriers ready on standby. In the end we were not prepared for such fight hence we lost. Props go CI guys
In the end we dropped our Special Niddy which turned the fight to our advantage.
GF guys, hope we will see you next time when we pop into your space

This sounds fucking pathetic - people that don't log in or pos spin without a hand to hold should be kicked. Your tldr sums it up nicely.

It's true of a large number of players when it comes to PvP though. For some people don't seem to want to take the initiative to find their own content/PvP. It's a weird mindset to me but pretty prevalent in Eve.

I have noticed this happen to many of the corps I've been in. One thing that really affected me until I joined Evolution was that I was unwilling to lead roams and stuff, because I wasn't listed as an "FC" anywhere. Back when I was in M. Corp, we'd sit around in Skype and be like, "Man, I wish we had FC's to lead us on roams." Funny thing is, if someone had added me to the "Official FC List" on the forums, I would have been doing stuff every day. lol
