Almost finished Act1 Nightmare as a Barb. Game still fun.
Mainly using (Explosive) Cleave & HammerotA + usual leap/revenge/warcry/Council. Buttonmashign is go.
Glad i haf Legendary sword.
No. A Rhinoceros is not a fat Unicorn.

speaking of, I am a level 32 wizard right now on my first run through the game and I am currently dying to Diablo. :/ Had him down to 10% and then I took my eyes of the screen for a second. :/
Any thoughts on builds?
Well, Diablo shouldn't be too hard as a wizard, you deffo should incorporate some kiting skills. I use a build without power-consuming skills in the right/left which means I can use all of my reserve for blizzard spam. With the right rune, you have a chance to freeze and you always slow everything, it's spammable too. Most wiz builds seem to build around some type of frost ability, though frost armour is unlikely as it means you need to get hit (fuck that). Play around really![]()

QA reply:I am able to log into D3 even if I change the case on some of the letters in my password. This should be fixed.
Tried on the bnet page... indeed it works. This is actually consistent with all of our Blizzard games. Try it in WoW and SC2![]()

Vulnerant omnes, ultima necat.
I would try a Magic Weapon/Familiar build, im using something like this for my HC Wizard (may be a bit overtanked):

It looks horrible because its for level ~32, the abilities are missing some nice runes. You can change energy armor if Diablo isnt hitting you a lot. Blizzard or Hydra can be nice. I would change Arcane Orb to something but most abilities are just horrible. Ray of frost forces you to stay in one place (i tried the rune that charges the ability and deals more damage after 1 sec - I had to interrupt it and move all the time).
Edit: Btw the Magic Weapon damage buff applies both to the main weapon and to the offhand (be it a Book, Oculus, some other class-only offhand etc).

This is my current Wiz build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...lOS!Yfg!caaZZZ
Magic weapon & glass cannon for DPS increase. Magic missile and electrocute for single/group DPS. Blizzard is the only arcane power consumption and natural regen + gear makes it almost impossible to run out. Crystal shell for taking the rare hit (but try not to at all) and with the crit+ from gear and energy armor I reset crystal shell extremely fast. Especially with electrocute it's possible to insta-reset it.
Fun fun.

Beat diablo on regular and nightmare, both in 1 try, solo wizard, here's what worked for me:
1. What you want to do is use magic missile (charged bolt). Its free, and hits for 140% weapon damage, can't beat that. You don't have to channel it so you can shoot and move around. Also it shoots far off screen so you can hit diablo from very far away. Use magic weapon or familiar (with damage boost rune) for extra PEW. In addition, you can get extra dps by donning your robe and wizard hat and yelling "MAGIC MISSILE" over and over as you shoot it.
2. Hydra. Not sure if you have venom hydra yet, but if you do, use it. Its amazing against bosses, as they are so big they will be in several venom pools at once, taking thousands of damage a second. Its 15 mana, invulnerable, and you can cast it, then run around dodging diablo's attacks while it kills him. If you dont have venom yet use lighting or w/e, its still great.
3. Defence: diamond skin with crystal shell for those oh shit moments. Also teleport is handy for getting out of the fire and whatnot, or escaping to a health well. Evocation passive can help keep these off CD.
4. Frost nova or wave of force can buy you a couple seconds.

Hm, so far I'm on act I Hell at lvl 53, which where I'm now encountering difficulties, I've used this build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...mXS!YXf!abcaaZ for (finishing - used coldsnap rune on Nova and one other pre-50 rune) nightmare, but have now switched out disintegrate beam for arcane orb (extra boom rune), and changed crystal shell to energy armor (+20AP rune). Tried a bit of solo Hell with the new build and it's p. cool, arcane orb in the face solves a lot of problems (with 7900 dps buffed), but as I found out when clearing the spider queen's lair (for khazra staff quest), a pack of 10 of the weakest spiderlings will rape my 15k hp in 0.5s if they get to melee. My reaction time has improved significantly sinceI kinda want to change electrocute for something else, but the fact that it can interrupt abilities and movement on 6 mobs at the same time, at the edge of the screen, is p. frickin useful even if the damage is rather pitiful, especially in coop. Also, fuck I love Archon.

It's really a build for twinks, not sure how well it'd work otherwise. But I couldn't find a wiz build that I enjoyed at this level, besides my previous melee meteor one. Most just lack the oomph and feel I'm after (probably from being used to DH when it comes to damage). This one answers the question "Meteor or blizzard" by taking both.
Gamplay is simple: open with blizz to hold your mobs in place, then spam meteors down on them for 6 seconds, casting electrocute when possible to restore AP (against 3+ mobs, each cast will give you 7 AP back). Feels very D2 Meteorb.
Build will get more powerful at 48 with the energy armor rune that gives +AP

rare: shielding / waller / mirror image?/ minion
minion: fast / horde / reflect damage / arcane
yeah...
e: hell coop with a barb friend of mine, I think we died like 8 times to them, last 4 times was basically on spawn, ress -> nova -> orb spam for 10% of their hp -> die -> repeat

Being a HC player, I'm not worried about inferno for a long time.
Inferno, Act1 - it's actually easier than the A2 chest. So far I've got 1 set item, 2 legendaries, 8 plans, and a f-ton of AH sales through it. At roughly 200% magic find (decked out my templar in MF also).
For awhile there, was using a pretty funky DH build.....wolf companion, sentry, spike traps, damage caltrops.....I got rid of the wolf now but it's a pretty fun build and fits the necessity to "OH GOD RUN" because everything 1-shots you in inferno anyways.

A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code
The base damage comes from your weapon. So all the +int in the world won't do anything unless your weapon has good damage. Try taking a quick look on the AH and find something decent with a socket, drop a ruby in there and you should see some higher numbers. By the end of normal (level 33ish) my barb and wizard were both around 500 dps.
You should be able to pick up a solid weapon + off hand for under 10k each at that level.
On my wizard, just picked up a 600dps staff with level requirement reduction, so I'm rocking over 10k dps at level 54. Gonna cruise through hell.
