Can someone tell me how spell dmg for spells with cd is calcualted? I suppose the shown dps is only the base for non cd spells? Same question for pets and dots.

% Weapon damage in the tooltip is always single swing weapon damage after modifiers from +flat damage items, +% from main attribute and finally +% from talents.
Castspeed is equal to attack speed.
Tick frequency on channeled spells is equal to attack speed, and so is mana consumption. However, iirc damage numbers are only displayed in 0.5 sec intervals.
I.e.:
For spells with cd and spells with damage over time ==> Slow weapon.
For instant spells with manacost and channeled spells ==> Slow weapon to sustain, or fast weapon to dump mana
(Special case is Archon abilities, since they are free)
For signature spells without mana cost, that proc things like mana return / crit events ==> Fast weapon.
So it depends on the playstyle, but i generally am happier with a slow weapon.
e: Thats for Wiz, WD is similar with the uncertainty that i dont know how attack speed influences pets.

Thats about what i thought. So i will look for a high average dmg, low attackspeed 2h weapon for my 1min nuker build. should be possibel to get a cheap one because most only look for dps.

How much lifesteal/life per hit are you at?
I was using a Crippling Wave Concussion as the primary attack, with Serenity, BoH 15% damage, Blinding Flash, MoE with Hard Target and SSS 23s CD for an extra CD. With One with everything, Transcendence and the Dex->Armour one.
Things took a bit to kill but there wasn't much risk involved, spamming Mantra for 3200 HP per activation was a nice way to recoup health in addition to runed Serenity and BoH.
I tried yours out in the first bit of Act 1 heading towards the Graveyard. Things died a lot faster thanks to Sweeping Wind, which is probably a better use of a slot than SSS, even though SSS was useful in getting out of Desecration/Ice Bombs at times, but it was a worthless damage ability. Without transcendance to get some HP per Mantra activation it seemed more difficult. Which brings me back to, how much lifesteal/life per hit are you at?![]()
I was still using Blinding Flash though, I just can't see the use of Mystic ally, I guess I can try it out but when I was using it near the end of Hell it seemed to die pretty fast on packs, even more for the Earth Ally who'd taunt mobs onto it.
I really liked Sweeping Wind, but Cylcone rune, jesus that thing isn't reliable. Sometimes you have no tornados for a pack, other times you get 3 at a time on shielded mobs. I'd almost rather use Blade storm or the spirit regen one, as the spirit regen would be nice on those shielded mobs since hurr durr monks/barbs can't get resources on them.
Mystic Ally is awesome, only costs 25 spirit and has no cd so if it dies just bring him straight back.
Going to play around with builds again when I get a chance to play, I still think there is a better way of doing things.

using a weapon with as, mojo with mana reg.
this build i can cast every time anything is out of cd.
2.25 attack/sec.

They hotfixed the cooldown time skills are put on when changing them.

Jesus fucking christ Act 2 with my monk just doesn't work.
I wouldn't care if act 1 actually dropped upgrades sometime instead of level 57 yellows with 300 dps or such horrible stats.
Like 75% armour reduction, 60% reduction through resists, 30% base reduction from being a monk.
How the fuck do these stats work if shit still whacks the ever loving shit out of you.

Any one have a link to what kind of dps you should be putting out at whatever level. I'm lvl 40 and just over 1k on the char sheet and no idea if thats good or not.
@Bielz My 38 Barb is doing a shade under 900 and I feel like I'm doing alright. Untwink except for a weapon I found for like 8k on the AH and a gem or two.
While I'm here, does whirlwind work like the channelled spells described above? How about for dual wielding?
