Pfft, I give Gaben enough money...not going to give him free publicity too.

Glad to see FHC beat me to this one.

I consider Neal something of a god when it comes to writing so obviously I'm interested in what he's doing.

Ancient Domains of Mystery remains my number one rogue-like of all time. The original game is free to download, and the ADOM Guide Book may help you survive a little longer before dying horribly. Been playing ten years, never actually beat the game. I may suck at it, sure, but you give it a try.

Turns out that the author is now raising some funds for ADOM II. Technically not on the kickstarter website, but it's the same concept.

Are there any guarantees in place that they actually do what they say they will? Fraud cases and whatnot?

I still don't get this whole kickstarter thing and why so many people like it so much. Buying a game in beta is one thing, but this seems silly.

Nope. Bring popcorn when the first big project fails to deliver.

The projects which are raising the most money though are ones where the people doing the begging are recognised industry figures, usually a fair bet those lot can wrap up a project properly.

The way I see it, it's about getting a game to beta. You can make a prototype on your own time but eventually you need to dedicate time and resources to fleshing it out. A $50,000 injection would do wonders for keeping people fed and equipped to do their jobs.

I don't know if you've seen Extra Credits but they've talked about this model in an episode.

Oh wow, that video isn't at all biased. and overly simplistic and oblivious to reality in places.

Still, I guess it goes some way to explain this kickstarter fad. "You can have the game YOU want, just as long as you fund it."

Ice-Pick Lodge (Pathologic, The Void, Cargo: Quest for Gravity) up to their usual weird, Russian ways.

It always surprises me, some people have so much money. I should really try to start a project on there. Nice games in this list! Will have to check some when I get some time.

On another note.. bringing Zone of the Enders to PC anyone? I'd like that. I'd like that a lot.

Someone make Freelancer 2 and take everyones money.
I asked for some advice in a department store about a gift for someone special.

The sales assistant said "we have a beautiful selection of gold necklaces and diamond rings just in".

I replied "no thanks, the fucking spastic will just eat those, got any Spiderman bibs?"

Castle Story is now on Kickstarter.

We had a topic for it earlier, basically isometric DF. Looks neato.

Basic pledge gets you beta access with free full release update. Next level gets you alpha access.

I'm not sure how that would work in your fairy world since people would be broke since they spent all their money on:

Supreme Commander 3(made like the first only with even BIGGER spiderbots)
    Uplink 2
Age of Empires 4 (that isn't a pile of shit)
    Rise of Legends 2
    Age of Mythology 2

Also Half Life 3 would have been 1 day to release and console ports didn't want to make you rage.

TL;DR I'm very sad Freelancer 2 is never getting made
