tldr; players create their own 'classes' using the fitting screen, meaning roles for narrow-focus modules like respawn points, commander view, orbital uplink etc.

I feel that the bit about class roles was pretty weak tbh, no one gets too excited about the tank/healer/dps class balance again; he should have really emphasized fitting and the general sandbox feel at even the basic gameplay levels a lot more.
Other than that, was pretty decent tbh.
