Inflation is also currently obscenely low considering the US pumping cash into the banking sector via quantitative easing. All this extra finance capital should have a pretty strong inflationary affect, what it is really doing is pumping up the financial economy to hide deflation in the real economy when the overall numbers are crunched.

The idea of 'value' when it comes to use and exchange of both consumer and essential goods has been almost entirely corrupted.

Is there something wrong with my math?
Shirley it's an additional $111 per month year on year (or an extra $1332 p.a.)? Also because of the compounding of the inflation your 'gains' can be lower in the early years and higher in later years to beat inflation.

Hired a new piercer at the shop, hopefully this means that pretty soon I won't be working seven days a week anymore. *fingers crossed*

Interviewer: "Do you have experience with Excel?"

Me: "Sure. I've been using Office since I was a kid. I'm pretty proficient except for Access."

Interviewer: "Great. Here's a sample set of Excel data. I need you to write a macro to [perform xyz function using the current date], then have it adjust the cell color using conditional formatting. You'll be timed."

    Me:

      Spoiler:
didn't actually happen, but this is one of my deepest fears

    Interviewer: "Do you know excel"

Me: "I know enough excel to know that I know very little excel"

Yeah that's always been my answer. Can I create a decent looking spreadsheet? God yes. Can I do formulas including conditional formatting and data across sheets and other sources? No problem. Can I do pivot tables and vlookups? Yes to a basic level.

Can I actually use excel? Fuck no.

No, Lark, you do not get to be paid the same as your boss.

Did you tell her the gender wage gap is a myth? Remind her that she should be spending more time in the kitchen, and less time worrying about manly things, like money.

But she makes more than him. Clearly there's sexism.

    Oh. Well that's weird.

My boss is a woman and I make less than her. Like in a normal company.

Managers manage people and their workloads, if those people have technical qualifications and commensurate workloads it's not unheard of for them to earn more.

If someone can suck your dick while you're fucking, I'd give him/her an award.

Yeah I guess that makes sense but I've never seen it directly other than with contractors.

It's quite common in tech. Managers are interchangeable.

I'm the same grade as my boss but I get a number of allowances associated with my job role, working conditions and level of responsibility/legal accountability which bump it up significantly.

I think my firm is slowly waking up to the fact that managers shouldn't always earn more than minions. All too often the only way to reward a good technical/engineering type has been to give them a team against their will, thus taking them away from the value they were providing in the first place.

    It really depends.

In my role, although I will not serve alcohol to every customer/carry out every HACCP task/do every legal task, I am ultimately responsible for them, thus I get paid more than the peons I delegate said tasks to.
