    just watched 'god bless america' based on this thread reminding me about it (having seen the trailer ages ago). the ending really let it down imo.

    Au contraire, the ending (see spoiler) actually elevated it. Kept it a (tiny) bit above what it starts out criticizing, no brains entertainment, in this case violence porn from an everyday perspective.

    And I don't mean the shootout a la Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but the ending as in the "retarded kids" response to their concern about people laughing at him, that he was only sad because they wouldn't put him on air any longer, and the protagonists reaction to this. If it was all smooth sailing, if their killing spree would have been "validated" by the kid, that'd be a real letdown. This was far more entertaining.

    Oh, and if I was for capital punishment for anything, which I am not, then being rude an obnoxious like the kids in the movie theater, should qualify. E.g. I sympathize and enjoy the theme of the movie, but one dimensional viewpoints always annoy me.

    It will be. Benefit of it being a uni film group is the foreign films are there for the international students half the time and they'd kick up a stick if it was dubbed. Plus uni film hipsters wouldn't allow it in a million years.

    I tell ya this is great. It's not even the uni I go to, they have no joining requirements except $35 for a semester with several movies a week. I'd recommend everyone checking if a uni near them does similar. They get the film reels off a cinema after they're done with them so you get the new releases a month or so late on a big screen in a lecture theatre. Plus they have the odd older movie thrown in too, going to see Lawrence of Arabia and Die Hard 2 later this semester. Men in Black 3 on Saturday
