Oh no, i knew it was a b-movie. The point i'm making is a lot of people and reviewers didn't seem to get that it was. Mark Kermode said as much when he reviewed it along the lines of "Yes, it's not a perfect film by any means, but it's a b-movie. That's sort of the point."
The Hunter.
Willem Dafoe's character is sent to Tasmania to recover physical samples of a supposedly extant tasmanian tiger for a shady biotech company.
The movie is good but it doesn't flesh out its secondary plotlines. However, this may be intentional so I'm not holding it against the film. I think it's possible that the isolation the main character experiences in the Tasmanian wilderness is reinforced by his not fully comprehending all the things that are happening around him in regards to his mission for the company. In other words, things will just happen out of nowhere, from time to time, and without proper explanation.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
hmmmmm
Hello? Oh, hello! I'm sorry it's a very bad line. No, no no... but that's not possible, she was sealed in to the Seventh Obelisk after the prayer meeting. Well, no, I get that it's important... an Egyptian Goddess loose on the Orient Express. In Space. Give us a mo....
... don't worry about a thing, your Majesty; we're on our way.
The Raid. Thai action film directed by a Welsh man. Had tickets to the low key premier in Cardiff but fell asleep. Still haven't seen.
Watched Chronicle, the direction is awful, but it's passable turn on, switch off type cinema. Think Cloverfield meets super hero origin story.
Also saw the Fincher version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's good, but its a nigh on word for word remake. I'm honestly not sure which version i prefer.
I've heard the same thing from everyone. Kristen Stewart is still a terrible actress. The flow of the story is kinda shitty. The creatures they create are really cool. Charlize Theron is really the only thing holding it together. Kristen Stewart 'fairer than' Charlize Theron? Who are you trying to kid.
Snow White & the Huntsman could just as easily be titled "come see Kristen Stewart do a more adult role". This prefaces her appearance in the forthcoming film adaptation of Kerouac's On the Road. From the commentary I've read, On the Road is basically "come see Kristen Stewart's tits".
... total disclosure I am interested in seeing Kristen Stewart give simulated road head![]()
watched 'intouchables' on recommendation from a m8 yesterday. actually downloaded it ages ago, but never got around to it because it was described as "black man looks after paralysed rich guy" (which sounds either despressing or shit). was actually really good, and glad i watched it. a proper 'film', good acting, good writing, good directing without trying to be clever getting in the way and fucking things up.
Saw Hulk (ang lee)
Overwrought.
Contract stuff to Seraphina Amaranth.
"You give me the awful impression - I hate to have to say - of someone who hasn't read any of the arguments against your position. Ever."
Liked it more than I thought I would but HOLY SHIT that bad guy was terrible. I think I have never seen a worse bad guy in a movie. He was just absolutely boring, unthreatening and annoying with the worst catchphrase possible. "We will have to agree to disagree"...get fucked.
But the Smith/Brolin stuff was fun and that's what counts. Still, if you have to pick between this and rewatching The Avengers...watch Avengers again. HULK SMASH!
For some reason people always forget that she has done movies like "The Cake Eaters" and "Welcome to the Rileys" years ago...
Saw it, regretted it. VFX were easily the best part of the movie. Stewart's best scene is when she's pretending to be dead. Plot is extremely confused about what it wants to be. At one point we're fully entrenched in magic (dwarves, faeries, spells, etc) and then at another point Snow White is saying the Lord's prayer. Anticlimactic ending.
Rent it.
