    [TMA] Inventing T2 rigs

So from what I can tell, most T2 rigs on the market are vastly overpriced, and I would like to get into small time manufacturing for my own use (e.g. I probably wouldn't sell them, I'm just tired of getting taken for a ride). ANy major do's and don'ts? What the very basic setup I need? Are decryrptors worth it? Complete industry noob here.

First off, inventing rigs takes ages, which makes it great for small-time use.

    You'll need

    1) some relevant datacores
    2) the relevant skills matching said datacores (getting them to IV is nice, but you can still make decent profit with III)
2a) Production Efficiency V or gtfo. wasting t2 salvage is not cool.
    3) t2 salvage that you hopefully picked up cheap
    4) Decryptors (these will vary in price a lot and require a lot of math to choose the right one)
    5) Max-run BPC of the tech 1 version of whatever you're trying to invent.

Let's say you want to make some medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer IIs.

You will need (assuming caldari encryption methods III, Hydromag Physics IV, Quantum Physics IV)

    Datacore - Hydromagnetic Physics x 2 = 689 k isk
    Datacore - Quantum Physics x 2 = 379 k isk
    Decryptor - Interface Alignment Chart x 1 = 3.98 mil isk
Esoteric Tuner Data Interface x 1 = 0 isk (reusable)

Invention runs and chance = 28.6752% of 10 run BPC
Average cost per actual run = 1.76 mil isk

You then end up with a ten-run Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II [ME: -6 PE: -3] BPC.

    This requires:

    1 R.A.M.- Shield Tech @ 52,999.00
    3 Intact Shield Emitter @ 3,561,010
    5 Micro Circuit @ 27,656.90
    5 Interface Circuit @ 83,835.00

    To summarize:
    Invention cost 1,759,499
    manufacturing cost 11,244,460
    = total: 13 million isk
Jita sales price 22.5 million isk

savings: 9.5 million isk per run.

just remember that he only updates the prices a couple times a month.

If only there were a market sub-forum for you to post in.

Yes T2 rigs are overpriced, but then look at how many are sold, if they are too cheap you might as well sell crap loads of T1 ones instead...

Remember there is a qualifier on that. The cost of failed inventions, with a ~30% chance of success that can bring the profits down rather low. So depending on how much eve loves you when you finish your invention jobs your profit margin can be from anywhere between a loss of isk to 9.5 mill isk per run.

Invention on average is a decent profit that is rather low impact game time spent inventing/manufacturing/sales related. However, be aware that eve has the fickle fuck you of fate hovering solidly over the invention process. You can and will have times when you run 20 invention jobs for a T2 BPC and sit around all sad because you had only one success. On the flip side it is possible that after the 20 invention jobs you are looking at 18 BPC's and isk literally shits diarrhetically in to your wallet.

    Dice rolls are gonna dice.

Must chime in here as there's one key point that hasn't been raised.

T2 salvage (even after the drop increase) is quite expensive, so inventing low ME BPCs (which use more of that expensive stuff) is not always a good idea. For some rigs such as the example given by Sponk, using a max run BPC and a decryptor that generates lots of copies but bad ME is just fine. For other rigs you are better off just using a 1 run input BPC and a decryptor that will give you a 1 run tech 2 BPC with a better ME.

Calculations are required but I understand there is now something called a "spreadsheet" for those who are mathematically challenged.

    Agreed.

    e.g.
Large Trimark II -> Formation Layout (52.5% chance of 1-run BPC@-1/-1)
Medium Trimark II -> Circular Logic (28.6% chance of 10-run BPC@-6/-3)
Small Trimark II -> these don't sell

Does max run bpc still apply to rigs? As like ships they have a max run bpc of 10, which when divided by 10 gives you a maximum output on the t2 bpc of 1.

They're exactly like ships in the way that the number of runs on the T1 BPC affects that on the T2: if you're not using a decryptor, you should be using 1-run BPCs to invent from. However, if you're using decryptors that increase the number of runs on the invented BPC, you'll want to invent from a max-run T1 BPC.

What about capital modules? (triage module II, capital tractor beam II etc)

So if I have a max run bpc of 10 and don't use a decryptor it will give me a t2 bpc run of 1, the exact same as 1 run bpc.

Yet having a max run bpc of 10 and using a decryptor that gives u say + 2, am I going to get a 12 run bpc or a 3 run bpc? If I use a 1 run bpc I'm going to get 3.

My question is, what is the relationship between max bpc run and decryptor run modifier ? I haven't seen this documented any where and I had assumed you always use a 1 run max bpc when inventing rigs and ships.

Ah okay so a 1 run bpc using a +2 decryptor would only give a 2 run tech 2 bpc, while a 10 run bpc would give a 3 run.

Just going to keep hitting mag sites until I get a worthwhile T2 rig bpc.
