The launcher just doesn't add anything usable to a player, and that is why I think it is getting all the negative rep. I see absolutely no reason to have it pop up unless the client needs attention in some way, be it that "I'm fuxored, run repair tool" or a patch.
My only complaint is the lack of proxy support, had to add like 5 different routes just to get the stupid thing to work when behind a restrictive firewall.
Problems I have with the launcher:
1) The launcher removed the downloadable patches, so I can't download them from work. I may now have to download the full patch every time it's more than say 100 MB.
2) That python exception kept me from downloading the 150 MB without baby sitting it every couple of minutes.
3) The process to upgrade the new patch is fairly annoying if the download breaks somewhere. At one point I had three separate clients downloading things one after the other.
What I like is that it seems to keep partial downloads: Woot, FTP restart makes it into the EVE patcher 27 years late.
Maybe the upside of this is that the launcher will get me to fix my internet instead of whining.

And it's not FTP restart, it's ZSync, so it's only downloading differences too.
<3 CCP.No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher.

I'm at work but y'all are pretty smart, you can fill in anything I've missed. you need to do this from the command prompt, Explorer can't do this at the moment.
Assuming EVE is installed to C:\Program Files\EVE ...
Start -> Run -> cmd
Now create three new shortcuts on your desktop, the targets being:Code:C:\Windows\system32>cd "\Program Files" C:\Program Files>mklink /D EVEAcct1 EVE symbolic link created for EVEAcct1 <<===>> EVE C:\Program Files>mklink /D EVEAcct2 EVE symbolic link created for EVEAcct2 <<===>> EVE C:\Program Files>mklink /D EVEAcct3 EVE symbolic link created for EVEAcct3 <<===>> EVE C:\Program Files>
Or replace ExeFile.exe with whatever program launches EVE nowadays. I wouldn't know... unsubbed etc.
Each one of these shortcuts will now launch EVE as though it was a new installation, EULA and all. Any changes you make to configuration on one of them will not affect the others. When it comes major patch time, you'll only need to download it once from any of the three shortcuts and all of them benefit. Client updates on the other hand will need to be run on each of them.
That said, with the new launcher thingy I dunno if it fucks up this system.
Hell, if I can manage it I'm sure most people here can.
man, linux install fubur somehow even after doing stuff with library stuff as suggested on forums. Launcher definitely stupid....
Anyone else MAC specific that have noticed that it keeps downloading the same patches every time the launcher is launched?
(I'd make a eve forum post about it, but banned so fffff)
