Sort of depends on how many mining bots CCP manages to catch / ban. If a lot, then certainly mining will be popular again and everyone will be happy (both the miners, and the PvP'ers who like miners). If not many at all and it's just another short-living grandstand play... then we'll just see a new flood of botters and nothing will really change.

I wonder if insurance will catch up with the mineral prices though... Wasn't it supposed to do that?

How it'll all play out is difficult to say - see current oil markets for similar situation - but that is the most likely outcome.
It takes about 40 days to sit in a hulk most have the isk for one shouldnt be to long tbh.

Yeah, I do wonder if CCP considered the double isk faucet from giving drones bounties AND increasing insurance payouts die to mineral shortages.

The trouble with going back to mining though is that it's boring as shit for actual humans to do.

Except you know, mining is shit and a complete waste of time and people will just bot it.

None of this fixes the underlying problem that mining is about as interesting as watching paint dry which is what as driven people to bot it in the first place.

Mining was perfectly fine back when it was an expert profession that paid well in return for having skills that couldn't be applied to PvP. People only complain about mining not being fun when it's not profitable enough.

I fucking hate mining. But I've just spent 5 hours mining Arkonor. The dollar signs drive me.

I took the dive and bought some Zydrine. Seems to be holding steady in Jita at 1950. I expect to have to wait 2-3 months.

    Yup.

Over the years I've been playing EVE, I would have spent several months of my evenings spent playing EVE just mining while I curled up with a good book or did homework - it wasn't so intense that I couldn't merge it with other activities and was a good casual profession with a decent income at the level of investment (of time & skills) that it took.

I feel sad now that thousands of humans is going to waste their youth (?) watching a cargohold fill up. What a waste of life for all involved.... And all of that is to fund a zero sum game of relative spaceship penile waving~

I miss mining because I can do other things while I make digimonies.

Best to wait another month unless you want to start stockpiling right away.

This. Also, the effort to fun ratio for missions and incursions are far more skewed then that for mining. Mining requires player input once every 60 seconds, the other two keep you busy enough to prevent you from effectively doing something else.

I for one enjoyed mining when i was new to eve, more so then grinding fucking missions but unfortunately those were more profitable.
