Now, I can understand why ships may start with low lock ranges and the need for a mod that increases target ranges.
What I don't see is why should large ships gain the means of improving their lock time and thus making small ships less important. Note this also applies to instalocking T3s and remote sebo setups. Fast locking roles really should remain for small, light ships.
In addition to catching ships, I can imagine a world where lock slots and lock times become a important limitation for effective damage application from large ships against small ones. Imagine that ships have less lock slots and greatly reduced sensor resolution (barring "command", and specialist ships) as they scale up (perhaps with modification to lock time formula as well), soon focused fire become inefficient as targets die too fast and ship lock too slow to refill their lock slots before their weapons cycle.
So does this all make sense?
