Fuck the Figher's Challenge room.....tried 3-4 times and left. Looked it up, realized I am waaay too low level to try it. Oops.

Besides that, I'm doing ok with a weird group. I've got a human rogue hand-spec evasion tanking with a minotaur armor+axe headhunter upfront. Behind i've got an assassinate rogue who stabs with daggers from behind and then an insect lightning mage. Kinda disappointed that I've found two magical swords and I can't use either...

I haven't had too much trouble in combat just yet (unless I sit infront of some fireball/lightning bolt mob and take 5 blasts) but enjoying the game thus far. Think I'm on level 9 or 8 (vault of the d-something atm).

I've got two minotaur fighters, an insectoid mage, and a lizard rogue. Only got partway through level 3 so far.

Is there any sort of healing spell for the mage?

Rest to heal, some people seem to not know that.

Rest = Heal+Energy, but also consumes food.

From what I gather from the Grmrock forums, you the game will warn you when your characters are hungry. Don't be tempted to eat just because you're at 80% food, as it's pretty scarce later on.

I heard that this is possible but didn't see what was required in order to do it. Does it involve collecting all of the Treasures? A nudge in the right direction (but not 100% spoilers) would be awesome.

Started my second play through with two rogues, warrior, earth-based mage. Curious to see how Assassination performs at high levels.

First one gives a vague hint, others are more detailed.

      Spoiler:
It involves rescuing someone from the dungeon. Next one will tell on what level, the one bellow that will tell what do do after it.

      Spoiler:
    Dungeon level 10

      Spoiler:
Name your first character after him and press enter.

My rouge and mage died there instantly but my warriors did just fine to grind them down. However they had all points in her armor skill and could tank ogres without much trouble grinding them down from where you stand. If you have 2-3 healing potions for the more durable chars and get your back against a wall you should be fine.

The only thing what was kind of bad was her damage, since they had no points in weapon skills for most of the game and as they did get them up to get the better swords and damage my rogue did get assassination to 50, what rendered every kind of other damage completely irrelevant.

      Spoiler:
Assassination 50 makes every successful backstabbing a instant kill.

Atm I'm on my 2. run with the single char, steam rolling spiders in L3.

I missed the single char thing. As I always stick to one save game and do not look stuff up till after the first playthrough I am doing a fast run now on easy to unlock it. Then single char run and after that a complete run with all secrets and stuff.

At first I will only check how many secrets there are per level and if I canīt find them I will look it up. Guess I will be playing this game for another while. ^^

    I don't sports.
I don't play, watch, care about or understand sports. At all. I do not sports.

We have pushed the patch to Steam, GOG and our own store and it should be available once the distributors have done their magic, hopefully within 24 hours.

Was really hoping for a way to reset character points used just because I regretted going Maces over Swords on my Fighter, but ah well - doesn't really matter since you have plenty DPS anyway, but it nags me.

The level editor + possible expansions later on will be great for Grimrock. It also invites itself for custom levels made by individuals with limited resources seeing as it did not have much in regards to voice-acting or anything else that would take additional resources. Good use of notes etc. can easily create the right setting.

Yeah, looking at the reverse-engineering on the engine so far it seems that it's quite flexible in terms what you can do with it, looking really forward to extra dungeons and I might even try my luck in creating one eventually.

And IMO on a game like grimrock you shouldn't try to optimize everything as best as you can, more fun IMO going in not knowing what you will find and the frustration of finding something nice that you can't use And for my experience the various weapons seem balanced enough, swords are nice for puny enemies but armored stuff is pain to kill with them, axes hit hard for single targets etc.

Maps are made using an ASCII map (a literal map make up of characters), plus Lua scripting for the placement of objects and events. Since Lua will be available, there's potential for a TON of complex and cool stuff.

Yeah, they have also confirmed that you will be able to create new monsters and items + wall textures also. From what has been said about the editor it should also have a graphical UI for shaping the dungeon and placing items so you don't need to do everything by modifying text files.
