Looks tits, installing right now. My friend was texting me about how good it is and how it's even more unforgiving than Dark Souls so I took the leap.

I remember playing Chaos Strikes back when it came out and getting my ass handed to me. Bloodwych and Captive were much more forgiving in comparison.

Unfortunately I never played any of the Eye of the Beholder series but I love the genre from what I have played.

Your command of deliberate, convincingly bad English is amazing.

The mechanics might seem simple but you just can't rush forward and try to hit everything until it dies, as doing so will just get your party killed. Also so far the puzzles and secrets have been quite nice, at dungeon level 3 currently.

Fuck graphics quality, way too much time is spent making a game shiny and everything else suffers for it. I'd gladly pick a game with good sound, story and gameplay with mediocre graphics over Chest High Walls 13 that has unmatched gfx quality.
I'm not sure it's really the graphics quality but more the idea that instead of expanding out in to a freely interactable world or something like that they've reduced the game to grid based movement with no free-form and limited interactability. Yeah you can look around within the square you're standing on, but how is that in any way a leap or even interesting compared to the complete(ish) freedom of movement of skyrim which has the same and better puzzle-types with none of the retarded "you can only move exactly 5 feet in every direction"... bitching about chest high walls while playing a grid-based game is just

Admittedly, I didn't look in to the depth of character manipulation and such, but at a wild swinging guess just watching the combat demo in the video against the snail, meh... the UI doesn't even seem decent for that.
I wasn't bitching about chest high walls in a grid based game. I was saying I prefer immersive games no matter the graphics to graphically superior games who's only feature is shooting thousands of bland enemies from hundreds of convenient chest high walls.

The game doesn't hold your hand! I love it!

This is a grid based game, The main benefit of which is ease of development. It makes the game easier and quicker to implement. You don't need an insane animation system to cope with characters that can go anywhere, you don't need very complicated navigation systems to make the AI try and get to a player when he has managed to climb on top of an awkward rock. It saves so much time and effort. This is why the game is cheap.

    EDIT:

No steam cloud support makes me rage however. I would like to continue my game at lunch time in work. :/

I can't seem to open the gate at the end of lvl 2. I can see the stairs down behind the portcullis but no way to open it.

    No dropbox allowed at work.

Gonna have to resort to copying the save onto a memstick constantly.

So how good is the game, does it actually have the same complexity in combat that the Wizardry series and Lands of Lore 1 had?

Well it is a games company. They want to allow us to play games during lunch but don't want us to be able to share anything. Yes I know there are a gazillion ways to do it, but when have you known management to be savy about It stuff?

As someone who played the original Dungeon Master on a Commodore Amiga, I can confirm serious amounts of nostalgia.
