    Punk Rock, Ska etc...

    Wat? No thread yet?

Oh well, gonna post some little known but incredibly awesome UK ska bands that I've been listening to recently. You should listen to them too, plus going to their shows never seems to cost much more than a fiver and all of them tour the UK on a pretty regular basis so no reason not to see them live TBH.

First up, Random Hand, got three albums now, youtubes spoilered below.

      Spoiler:

Next up is JB Conspiracy. Just the one album but they've just released an EP in the past few days and a new album coming later this year. Posted The Patriot which is my favourite off their current album, though it's all good, and also a link to a song from the new EP.

And last up is The Skints. East London band, first saw them play in a tiny pub in Lewisham though seems like they can pull a reasonably large crowd these days. Have an EP and album and new album out this year.

      Spoiler:

Anyways, always looking to find new bands to listen to so keen to hear what other people know about.

Cool tunes. Especially like that first one.

The Skints new album Part & Parcel is out on 12 March, can pre-order on play.com and they might still have signed copies left. New single (from the album) was released today buy no one buys singles anymore rite?

Also, The Slackers (sorta punk) are playing in various European cities between April 11 and May 6. Always good fun so worth going to see if they're passing by your way. http://www.theslackers.com/tour/

+ rep for the The Skints. Some of their acoustic stuff on Youtube is awesome.

JB Conspiracy's new EP, The Calm, came Thursday. Pretty good tracks on it and I'm really looking forward to the new album now.

Also, something I've been listening to for a while is The Black Lungs. I first head of it when a friend said it was a sideproject of Alexisonfire's guitarist. Was kinda dubious cause I think Alexisonfire is shit but I was pleasantly surprised and today the album Send Flowers is one of my all time favourites. Apparently they have started recording a new album this month. This is the only song with an official video afaik but they have the album on iTunes (well worth buying) as well as an EP.

Farse, was really sad when they split. King Prawn, Lightyear, The Toasters, 4ft Fingers, Pickled Dick (singer was on come dine with me a few months back).

Capdown was one of my first gigs, brilliant band! And my first internet name came from a Link 80 song, 'For The Crown'.

Sonic Boom Six can fuck off.

    Bad Brains.
Perhaps the first Black punk act, but on top of that they're just awesome. They went reggae later in the game, but they got their start in punk and introduced a degree of musicality to a genre that at the time often consisted of kids who learned a couple of chords and just played them fast.

The Skints are playing the London Hyde Park bandstand on Monday at 16:30 and 20:40 if you're able to make it down. It's a free event and well worth going IMO.
