I'm a massive fan of good liquid stuff, and also the really dark sometimes dubby, sometimes hard stuff. Anything Exit Records put out basically.

Some of my favourite liquid bits:
      Spoiler:

Instra:mental - End Credits (NonPlus+ Ltd). Lovely bit of liquid, and it's probably my favourite drum & bass tune ever.

Synkro & Indigo - Reflection (Exit Records). Another liquid bit.

Instra:mental - Watching You (NonPlus+). Instra:mental again. They basically stopped making drum & bass after this.

Some of my favourite non-liquid bits. Very bassy, very dark:
      Spoiler:

Loxy & Resound - Depth Excess (Exit Records). Man gonna get hurt.

Genotype - Version (Exit Records). Genotype made some really dubby drum & bass with reggae basslines for his Ritual Dance LP on Exit Records. I strongly recommend checking it out. Absolutely love that record.

Dub Phizix & Skeptical - Marka (feat. Strategy) (Exit Records). If you've been to a good drum & bass night in the past 9 months or so, you'll have heard this. BIG tune.

Icicle - Top of the Page (Shogun Audio). Got a slightly minimalist but techy feel. Love this stuff.

Really? That's a terrible shame, although luckily London is still served well for dnb imo.

Lots of nights, rapidly decreasing number of good venues though... I mean the system at Mass was never "great" but it had some decent weight something that is greatly lacking with the new crop of Funktion 1 basement rigs...

Only decent sounding club left is Plastic people... Most of the good nights have gone to Cable where the layout is shit and the system underwhelming And then there's Fabric... Fine if you have guest-list and don't mind sharing the dance floor with 1000 sweaty teenagers, and lol don't even think of going there with a girl unless your REALLY spoiling for a fight!

God i miss THE END http://www.endclub.com/goodbyebaby

Plastic People isn't very good any more. Serious volume issues. They refurbed the place and now you can hold a normal conversation on the dancefloor. Shame, because it was the best soundsystem I've ever heard.

I was really impressed by the soundsystem at Corsica Studios when I went just before Christmas.

London has never been a good place for sound systems, it's locked down to hard. Bristol is the place 24/7, that's why I had to leave.

Also, don't forget the D&B roots

Agreed when i comes to quality. Nevertheless, due to my work i can only really make the time to go out once every couple of months and Fabric is really all i need for that; mandy tends to make the teenagers disappear..... I wish i had the time to go to a larger variety of places but instead i have to be content with skanking around my room!

In other news, line-up for Brixton has been announced, from the site:

Netsky LIVE!, High Contrast presents "The Agony & The Ecstasy" feat. Jessy Allen & Dynamite MC, Logistics presents "Fear Not" feat. MC Wrec, London Elektricity, feat MC Wrec, Camo & Krooked feat. Ayah Marar & Youthstar, SPY feat. Lowqui, Nu:Tone & SP:MC, Fred V & Grafix feat. Carasel MC. Room 2: Nextmen & Dynamite MC, Reso, Mensah, Phaeleh, Killsonik, Royalston, Scratcha DVA. Hosted by Chunky. Room 3: Hosted by Get Low Cartel

John (the bassist) really has a huge following in the bass "effects" community :P
Personally I would just play everything an octave lower with the same sound, tbh.

I agree. The fartyness comes from it being fairly midrange.
