I'm not a girl, and I don't know what a "Mendolorian" is.. I think it might be a self healing car that travels through time.

quack
I usually drink Jack & Cokes, but when I feel classy I'll sip on this stuff.

Nothing wrong with bourbon. I'm becoming anti-haute.
Cheers for the feedback guys, operation Whisky Get will be a go this weekend.
Not even joking Jim Beam black is the best you can get here without ordering online.
My stuff. The Aberlour is gone and was replaced with a Glenmorangie Lasanta.
Currently working on some Jameson myself, becoming quite fond of the stuff. Sadly I'm too poor to try the more expensive ones without saving and buying nothing else, but at least I'm off the cheapest Beam.
Decided to try some fancier stuff, was surprised by my local grocery store's selection. Got some Glenfidditch 12 year to start with, unsure I'd be able to tell the difference. It's quite nice, lacking the usual resulting urge to drink something else that accompanies most I've tried. Now to save up for another bottle of something else...
Well, I forced myself through sipping a finger of Oban 14 this morning. I'm afraid I'm just not a whisky person.![]()
I'm no expert, but if it's too heavy and you can't appreciate the flavour initially mix in some water. I did all the time when I began drinking whiskey. Having it neat initially can ruin your appreciation I found. I also found the younger whiskeys easier to get into. My favourite still is Glenmorangie 10 that Hast has posted already. Very buttery and smooth, great one to start with.
What Poem said, adding water is fine. You should also try a very smooth one like Dalwhinnie 15 or Glenkinchie 12 before you definitely conclude that you don't like it. These 2 are so smooth and flowery that if you have to "force" yourself to drink them then yeah, it's not for you.
15y Darkest? I've heard great things about it and I'm sure it's much better but at the price it's sold here (almost $100), it's simply not worth it. The Bowmore 12 was an experiment to find a cheap and still very good Islay, but it doesn't beat the Laphroaig QC, even if the latter costs $20 more. Too acidic, and a bit boring.
So a friend of mine has been to a whisky tasting yesterday. Apparently all very expensive stuff but the one he recommended to try was this:
Thoughts?
Will probably get me a bottle as we got pretty much the same taste in whiskey.
