[TMA] the new and improved AF's

I recently joined RvB and in the process of relearning PvP after 3/4 year of abstinence, so I'd like to use those along with T1 stuff because they seem very capable right now. Basically I'd like to hear general opinions about them, how they do vs destroyers and T1 cruisers especially, strengths and weaknesses and tactics. After some EFt warrioring it seems to me that Harpy is the overall best AF right now because of ideal slot layout, insane range for a frig, good DPS and tank and ability to perform well with rails as well as blasters, c/d?

Harpy and enyo are rape trains now due to pervious blaster and current null and AF buffs.
Jag got fucked hard and is now one of the worst AFs.
Vengeance gets loltankeverything but the arse end no dps.

They're p much in their own liga now, at least 1vs1 i dont think any other frigsize ship will engage an AF (with maybe few exceptions).
You can still trap-fit your Celestis for frig pwnage, but in general AF vs. Cruiser should be interesting.
Vengeance especially can now put out some significant DPS (~240 w/ heat and t2 dps rockets) while having beastly cap (high base cap + cap regen bonus + nos + capless guns). Hawk can tank an outright retarded amount of (sustained) dps.

Harpy is outright scary for 1vs1, as is the plated Enyo.
The former FOTM AF are now sub-par, especially the Jag - you can shoehorn it into some ~heavy scout~ role though

So that means that they will own destroyers now? Especially Harpy could kill a Thrasher on paper at least, higher resists, higher range with rails and greater EHP in addition to a web. Also, faster. I need to know this when I try soloing stuff in either a dessie or AF.

AFs are now able to take on T1 Cruisers, with the fight slightly in the Cruisers favour.
Destroyers are able to take on AFs, but with the fight slightly in the AFs favour.

Heh, what t1 cruiser are you talking about Prom?

With equal SP and skill most t1 cruisers will still wipe the floor with any AF Might just be me being in FW where a ton of mwd/scram/web ruppies fly around with dual neuts - oh and of course small gun Vexors and neut arbis.

even with duel neuts and the tracking bonus, I came within 15% hull of killing a phantasm in a gankfit enyo so I'm quite sure that it's possible.
I tried to be cool and all I got was a lousy warning about my sig being too big.

Any AF with a nos, fighting a cruiser with medium weapons, has a good chance of winning.

What's your favourite AF right now Prom? I am undecided between Vengeance and Hawk for 1v1's as they are very tanky. Harpy for allround stuff like fighting in a gang, catching somebody etc.

Obviously any Cruiser deliberately overtanked, undergunned and otherwise set up to kill frigates is going to still wipe the floor with AF's in most likelihood but that isn't to say the new AF's can't brawl down with normally fit ones.

Your command of deliberate, convincingly bad English is amazing.

Im using the 200 plate enyo with neutrons,

Hada run in with a jag and I managed to cap out when he hit 30% structure

    http://i.imgur.com/ctHuo.jpg

    my loss http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12254798

    Then ran into a t1 cruiser who GCC'd on a station http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12256741

his medium nuet insta capped me and i managed to get a slither of cap to keep scram on.

Both times cap fooked me up , cant fit a nos cause of PG even with ions and cant fit a booster cause id loose the web.

Maybe its my crap capacitor skills idk.

A cane could prob eat through about 5 of these b4 going down purley down the the 2 med nuets.

NOS is your friend in a frigate with guns that use cap.

I really don't care about the AF 1v1 aspect, and they are all really capable of countering each other.
When it comes to roaming and stuff, I'm going to say that the Vengeance & Enyo/Ishkur suit my playstyle best.

That's not to say the others are bad, I just means I don't like passive tanking (jag/harpy), usually want a web (no retrib/wolf), don't want to rely on cap charges or spend a fortune fitting the way I like (hawk).
With that said, it really depends what you're looking to do.

And yes, unless you're going after Enyos, you need a nos on these things.
They can all fit them with their most versatile fits, trust

The mwd bonus puts most of the af's as cruiser sized while mwd'ing.

You'll only need 2.5 times the traversal with an mwd on instead of 5 times the transverse.

The idea of replacing mwd+point interceptors at any point in the future with that buff isn't something to be afraid of. They'll be able to steal the very rare scram+duel prop only useful under logi fits np however.

Haven't been following so I have no idea what kinda slots they got, but would it be possible to make an active tank Hawk now? Perhaps with some high grade crystals?

As though it weren't possible to do an active tanked Hawk before?

Well no. But 5 mids with high grades could be interesting
I wonder how much it can fit though...
