3060's does more than fine at 1080 and the 2060 should be fine in 1080 with a setting or two dialed down in demanding titles. It's an old card after all.

As for mining memory capacity over 6gb is wasted for a miner. They want the bandwidth and not the capacity. The 192 bit bus might make them shy away though...... Who am I kidding, those vultures will buy it anyway.

Unfortunately it uses the same GDDR6 memory as the "mainstream" parts so that particular boon is gobbled up elsewhere. I dunno, maybe there's an excess of memory modules on the market. It's a stupid card anyway, it was stupid when it was new and it's not better now 3 years later.

Time was that x60 cards would do that, though. The 560 Ti would wipe the floor with anything produced in the same era at 1080p.

    Have a little christmas cheer:

One of my junior engineers was called to a classroom kitted out with "High-Spec" desktops on teh last day of term, as a machine wouldn't boot. On opening it up he noticed that not only was the memory missing, but the NVidia 1650 GPU had been swiped as well. We went into full panic mode at this point, and a quick audit eventually discoverexc that 15 had been removed.

Now, did you know that windows doesn't log a GPU being removed ? Insane right? Even worse, the desicgn of these dalls was such that you could flip a catch and pull the card out without even removing the case.

    WELP!

Digging through device logs, SCCM logs, CCTV, the lot got us absolutely nowhere. As the onboard intel GFX was still there, the systems carried on, Indeed if the memory hadn't been swiped from one machine we still wouldn't be any the wiser.

It's the last day of term, rapidly approaching Kickout time when another colleague finaly gets a hit on an identical GPU, on Facebook marketplace, for sale for £175 just around the corner from college. Better still, the name of the dude selling it matches a student with classes in both the rooms cards are missing from.

Thye college principal calls him with good news: He's won a Amazon Voucher for his College Work, and can he come pick it up straight away. The nice chap does, straight into the arms of security, Pricipal and the police. Whoopsy daisy. He proceeds to grass up his 2 mates after some story about entitlement - all 3 got a nice ride to the cop shop to talk about theft, handling stolen property, and some other stuff they may want to make stick.

I believe they recovered 11 of the 15 stolen cards.

    Merry Christmas
Please don't teach me what to do with my pc.

I don't get the design of these cases. Do you happen to know which case it is, or got a picture of one?

Dell loves custom cases where the expansion cards are held in by the side panel itself or some sort of hinged plate rather than being individually screwed in.

I mean if it was 140 USD it might have been ok but that x4 PCIE connection really hurts it.

Anyone have an idea on how much money they save in manufacturing cost by doing it this way? In some ways I'm actually impressed how "well" it performs with a 64 bit memory bus but that's just from an architectural standpoint. The icing on the cake for me was probably the media encoder engines getting slashed. That is something that everyone will use even if they don't want to game on the card.

Now that I've reflected a bit more on it I realize why there isn't a media encoder engine on it and it's comes down to AMD being clever and integrating their product lines for mobile products. The encoder engine sits on the cpu and the work gets done there instead. Very efficient use of silicon but it makes for terrible value in the desktop space.

There is no 'value' in the current market.

Shipping is up so much that I've just heard it's a third of the price of the 6500XT. The sub-200 market is dead.

The 6500 is a temporary, transitional anomaly IMO. The "sub-$200" market is going to be APUs. Just like I said a while ago, a seperate video card will increasingly become a specialist add-on, in the same way that sound cards have become (although not to the same extent, they'll be a lot more common that add-on sound cards, but still much less common than they are now).

Once SKUs like Rembrandt (Zen3+ cores, up to 12 RDNA cores) and Intel's Xe APUs go mainstream and take hold, the use case for anything weaker than a 60-class card will be increasingly squeezed out, and the "I just need a working PC" card market will shrink to the point that second-hand GPUs will largely cover it. When your CPU can deliver 50-class performance on its own, why pay $200-300 to go a little bit faster when you could pay $4-500 to go a lot faster. And both Nvidia and AMD have made it extremely clear that they'd much rather sell you that $500 card than produce a $300 card that you might conceivably want.

If the mining boom suddenly crashes, we'll see this happen really fast

I'm pretty sure people want a 300$ card even if it's nowhere near the value that the 8800GT was back in the day. The 6500XT looks like a damn GF2 MX400 card in 2022 and is a waste of resources and probably costs pennies to manufacture. And those 500$ cards? Where are those?

Look, I'm all for paying for a high end GPU but at the current prices you can buy a full system with a 3080Ti for the same price of a 3080Ti where I currently live and that's a pretty cheap 3080Ti to begin with. It's also just ridiculous to expect people to pay 3000$ for a 1500$MSRP card and all the shops are making bank at the expense of the customers.

Edit: adding insult to injury the 6500XT will be sold here for about 400$ lmao.

Oh yes, of course we want such cards. Sucks to be us. If we're fortunate, we can hold out until GPU mining crashes and we can pick up cheap Amperes. If we're not we can pay £1100 for a real card or pay £300 for a 6500XT or admit our situation and buy an APU.

Yeah Iím also hoping for te market crash and cheap Amperes. And Iím really not happy giving up my 5950x really for an APU

I mean even if I get a 5700G thereís no video output on the MB
