According to a survey that Toms Hardware has done on ebay, the card with the best fps per dollar ratio is the GTX 970.

Only today, tomorrow the prices will go up again.
And it's a card that's starting to REALLY struggle with 1080p AAA gaming - while I managed to play and complete Cyberpunk on mine, it basically never got above 30fps and there was one mission that tanked me down to 15fps early on. Getting to that point required a lot of settings tweaking, too.
'I'm pro life. I'm a non-smoker. I'm a pro-life non-smoker. WOO, Let the party begin!'
its literally becoming cheaper by the day
Why is it called earth, when it is mostly water???
It is relevant.
Everybody complains about cards being expensive and hard to get.
Mining negates the price part, if you card can pull in 200usd a month which is easy for a 3070ti and above.
After 4-5 months card has paid for itself. After a couple of years, you have a machine that can pay for its own upgrades.

It tends to get on one's nerves, yes.
There is an 8 card mining rig sitting unused in the basement that belongs to my "landlord" (technically; I'm currently staying in a friends house). I need to ask him what's the deal with that; perhaps it's no longer profitable with SK energy prices, or he just forgot about it >_>
All expressed opinions match those of my employers, hail satan
You know this attitude is similar to EvE's "free" minerals that you mined. The hardware prices are absolutely retarded and if you bank on the idea you'll mine on your GPU to offset the cost you can have another thing coming -> the coin markets are very volatile and you can discover that your mined efforts are worth fk all.
I agree we should keep this thread free of crypto talk and just open another thread where people doing it can circle jerk over it![]()
Guns make the news, science doesn't.
Can the current crop of cards run out of ram to be useful for mining?
Wasnt this the case during the last boom, and the reason why current cryptominers want 8GB+ RAM cards?
Currently the most profitable to mine is Etherium.
But changes to it requires card to have at least 6gb of memory.
This took place quite a while ago, so miners are not the reason why we have the current supply issue.
And there is still plenty of other currencies to mine with 4gb cards.

Absolute ballers at KFA support just emailed over a new BIOS "from the factory".
It doesn't even pop up a "are you sure" when run, just updates the card firmware and reboots. *boom*
Lets see if this fixes the fan spinup.....
Edit Well waht do you know... fans are now off below 50degc, which is way above 'work/youtube/internet' temp.

Please don't teach me what to do with my pc.
Yeah, kinda an argument that cuts both ways that...
Congrats on having literally disposable income i guess? I was planning to get a 3060ti before shit went sideways but the only game i would need a powerful card for was indeed cyberpunk which i played through without problems and now i'm back to 2d indie trash anyway.
Might get a hand-me down 2080 later but again, #nogames.
