Potential options if you're willing to live with DVI and no FreeSync:

    Sapphire RX570 4GB: $99.99
    Sapphire RX570 8GB: $119.99

New cards, originally intended for mining, but should be fine for gaming or compute applications.

Digital link predating widespread use of HDMI or DisplayPort. Can be converted to a HDMI output. I use it for the display I'm on right now.

    DVI-D: Digital only.
DVI-I: Integrated, can run DVI or VGA (with adapter).

I can confirm that the 2080 FE is a fukkin beast. 4k is all fine and dandy, but it turns out my screen limits 4k to 30 Hz. So for the time being I'll just downgrade to 2560 x 1440 and max every single setting I can find and then I'll look at a new screen maybe.

There is technically a DVI-A as well. It's a VGA signal but using a DVI connector and was intended to be the stepping stone from VGA to digital because you had the new plug, but the old signal. I don't ever remember actually seeing it as pretty much everyone went for DVI-I

Decent in BF5, kinda bad in the rest of the tests, unsure what that actually means.

Looks like a classic case of marketing pushing the product out the door before it was ready. The GPU guys at AMD should really take some notes on how the CPU guys are doing stuff...

Kinda.. It looks like the drivers aren't ready more than anything, and drivers can be fixed.. Is this good? Hell no. Is this unique to AMD? Well at least it's only drivers... Also wasn't this the same issue with Ryzen and the motherboards early on?

Nothing to be surprised about, we all knew it was going to come up short against the 2080.
But the price vs performance on the VII is too much. Not even good value for money.

Seems like it's good value for some professional workloads though.

Double-precision was disabled, was it not? No, it was nerfed to 3.46 TFLOPs.

From what I have seen once the driver issues are fixed it should be about equal to the 2080 in performance. It's almost there now on prerelease drivers and like Nvidia, driver updates will improve performance.

Having said that what the fuck were they thinking pricing it the same. Even with the same speed you lose out on raytracing. Sure it might not be worth paying extra for but of you have to pay the same price for a card without it then why not just get it.... There is literally no reason to get this card right now.

That's because it's a PR move, not an actual product they want to sell a lot of. AFAIK it's costing them money to sell it at this price, it was never designed to be a competitive gaming card. It's just so they can say "see, we're still relevant" until the delayed Navi arrives.

    Re-tested with stable drivers.

    TLDV: 2080 Ti > 2080 > 1080 Ti > VII

Downloaded the 3d mark demo, not sure if a score of 8358 is anything worthwhile? 6733 is the 4k equivalent, so always something I guess. Too bad my display is locked at 30 Hz at 4k, so better buy a new one then.
