Well initial sales of the boxes alone apparantly covered all initial costs in launching and developing the MMO if you believe what Bioware are quoted as saying however the rapidly dropping sub rates obviously precipitated the layoffs at BW Austin and basically the future of KOTOR is now obviously on a much smaller scale than they had initial plans for.

well the next BW release that will confirm the death or otherwise of BW is going to be Dragon Age 3 if they even slightly fuck that up then the studio will just be killed by EA tbh... shame really means I will never see Jade Empire 2 although that might be a blessing in disguise as who knows what monster that would turn out to be.

No, any half decent MMO release goes subscription. there is literally no MMO that ever launched with f2p that was actually worth playing. And that includes Guildwars, since that was b2p (Buy to play) not f2p.

I might be an idiot, but I am serious. It might not be full f2p but I believe there'll be at least a long trial / first 20 levels free before next christmas.

good to see the same fanbois are relentlessly defending the SWTOR/BioWare development team...The game is actually getting worse the longer I play it. I've got 28 days left on my one month sub, and I cant really see a reason to extend beyond that. Between broken quests, terrible endgame pvp/pve, and a generally terrible community, the game really offers nothing more than the grind to 50.

I keep saying it, and none of you avid defenders of BioWare will ever concede this fact, but SWTOR will be going f2p within 24 months.

This breaks the game. Travel times are awful enough with speeders, if they think anyone will play beyond, like, coruscant (~lvl24?), without speeders, they are delusional.
They might just as well call it a free trial until lvl20.

e: and i wont return even for f2p unless they do some MAJOR unfuckery of the class mechanics.
