No, any half decent MMO release goes subscription. there is literally no MMO that ever launched with f2p that was actually worth playing. And that includes Guildwars, since that was b2p (Buy to play) not f2p.

It only starts for "real" in 9-14 days.

It is pretty much a mix of WoW with KOTOR. Some people like it, some don't. *shrug*

Game plays a lot like KOTOR. They try to impart a sense of scale and it works, but it gets annoying shlepping places. I find myself skipping past the major differentiator "the story" dialogues. I just can't be arsed to listen to the decent voice acting. I don't care about the story that much.

Gameplay wise the interface felt a bit clunky. No support for addons currently so no damage meters or meticulous spreadsheets to obsess over.

The advanced class mechanic feels a bit cheap. 1/3 talent trees being shared just feels like there isn't enough variety in classes.

I'd rather have had new KOTORs than an MMO that while fun...isn't quite there.

Companions make the game more solo friendly, but to the degree that I expect it will feel too much like a single player and have possibly a horrible community.

You also gear up your companions...imagine huntards rolling on your upgrade gear piece only to give it to companion #3 that they don't use but COULD use. I'm sure there will be a way/system to address that.

PVP max rank gear if your companion wears the same light/medium/heavy as you can be given to them. Seems imba.

Assumptions that the world pvp zone will never become overpopulated or too lopsided to cause grief seems shortsided. [No caps] I don't care but it can result in dead zone and loss of content with no one to play, dead servers, or all empire/republic all the time.

I like the game overall. I think the biggest issue atm is the UI, it needs customizability. I rage at tiny buff/debuff icons.

Sad thing is he is right. Most MMO degenerate to that state as long as people have the possibility to do so. Main reason why WoW linked up those servers to diversify and GW2 even starts off with server vs server RvR. Everybody (general populace) wants to play on the winning side and if my side get´s spanked all the time they either switch side or move to a server that has their side winning. That isn´t a secret really.

Actually kind of excited for launch have quite a few that re going to be playing. We kind of split up between empire and republic to see who gets the first gank on each other in the open world pvp.
