Found a home security system with 4 cameras that would probably be better than anything I could cobble together.

New issue: I'm trying to update the Raspbian image on my RPi. When I download the ZIP file on Windows and attempt to extract it, it says it requires an additional 742 petabytes of space. Obviously, that's not right. When I download it on Linux and extract it with Ark, it's fine. But when I go to move the extracted ISO file to a USB drive (not imaging, just copying), the transfer fails. What gives?

    Use another extractor.
    Try 7-Zip or WinRAR.

7zip is pretty good despite the horrible interface..

That or just give it another 800PB of disk space..

Use https://etcher.io/ to put images on SD cards. It can do it without extracting the zip first, and is as simple to use as it gets.

Also: https://resin.io/ looks pretty cool for managing a couple of raspberries scattered throughout your house.

"Here's A Proper Install Of Windows 10 Running On A Raspberry Pi 3"

I know what you're thinking. It's just the cut-down, IoT version we've been able to play with for years now. Nope -- this is the Windows 10, built for the compact computer's ARM64 architecture. Sure, there's not a lot you can do with it on a Pi, and it's not exactly stable, but it does works.
"it does works" just about sums this up, since they also go on to mention that it can only use one core of four (plus, it's always maxed) you can't do much of anything with it until it finally chucks an error for missing CPU instructions and dies.

The take-away from this is it's just a little cool thing one guy did, we're still stuck with Windows 10 IoT Core.

Raspberry Pi 3B+ released, now with a faster CPU, gigabit Ethernet, and 802.11ac. Still $35.

I love how they seem to be maintaining compatibility with older cases as much as possible.

Ethernet speedtests I have seen show ~300mbit throughput. Which is nice.
