If you think that's badly burned skin you have never seen a real sunburn.
Aye, the kind where your skin swells up so much your leg gets twice its circumference, the kind where you can't sleep because of the pain emanating from your leg, the leg that you for some inconceivable reason forgot to put sunscreen on after a long swim, during your first beach day in Thailand when on your winter vacation, coming from your own country where the sun hasn't risen for six weeks.

i must be part of a superior non-burning white master race
spent whole days at the beach without sun lotion on (forgot) and I'll go a bit pink but in the morning I'll have just tanned and back to normal.
Worst I've had was crinkly, weeping skin on my forearms & legs after I nodded off on a lilo during a heatwave. Not fun recovering from that.
Getting a sunburn so bad that you can basically watch while they are getting skin cancer seems to be a British thing.
Never saw other people so sunburned.

The thing about sunburn is that you can clearly feel that your skin is burning and you've got plenty of warning before it gets to any of those stages. Maybe this is something that you have to learn while growing up in the sun though.
not if you're in the water.
I still don't understand how you brits are doing that to yourselves, I'm fucking Irish/Norwegian heritage the worst that's ever happened to me was my back getting burned to where it peeled off but the skin under it was just pink not fucking zombie flesh. I go snorkling and freediving in the goddamn tropics and this shit doesn't happen to me, even when I forget to use sunblock...
do you people just not know what a sun is?
likely due to the fact that the antarctic no longer has an ozone layer, I'd expect the southern temperate band has considerably less than places farther north.
