Well... as American comedies go it's not too bad. But then American comedies are mainly terrible...
Parks and Recreation, Community, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Louie, Nurse Jackie. Those are the good running US comedies I can remember and that's more than enough to watch anyway. There are some that are decent and won't make you laugh, but cheer you up, like Modern Family, but I don't really bother unless I'm really bored. And then there's the terrible rest.
Big Bang Theory started out decent and became gradually worse as their ratings started to climb, up to the point where it's unwatchable. This includes every aspect of the show, from the plot, to the dialogues, to the casting, over the laugh tracks, and up to Kaley Cuoco having more muscles on her than the male cast of the show combined. I have the theory that at some point they noticed that when they made a joke about the classic text adventure Zork, only a few people were amused by nostalgia and the idea of playing a 40 year old computer game's buggy beta version by choice, while the great majority simply thought "hey, look at those NERDS". Once the writers realized that, the entire show became basically a zoo – only with the roles reversed and the apes sitting in the audience laughing about their failing understanding of the humans trapped in their little nerd world. I could go on and rant a little bit more about it all, but my main point can be summarized with the fact that as soon as producers noticed they have a show with the potential for reaching main stream popularity they dumb it down continually with each season to make it more accessible until the entire things collapses on its own idiocy; at which point the studio looks for the next potentially funny show to dumb down and the cycle continues.

Community isn't canceled yet, except some significantly dumbed down 13 more episodes for season 4. Alison Brie has a recurring but unspectacular and small role in Mad Men. Not a good replacement for seeing her in Community, but then again, nothing could replace that.
Did Community go bad or NBC are just being dumb faggots?
