I've had two dogs that were attacked by labradors. One was a staffy cross.

I'm not, I was just demonstrating that the only dogs to have ever attacked my dogs were both labradors, supposedly a 'safe' breed.

IIRC golden retrievers hold the distinction of causing the most injuries, both by sheer numbers of incidents(very populat breed) and when weighed against the proportion of the dog population they actually make up make up.

You're probably thinking of this Mirror article which fingers Labradors as the breed causing the most insurance claims, which isn't necessarily the same as causing the most injuries.

Other sites paint a very different picture based on medical studies.

It's hard to find good info about this though, much of it seems to be partial in some way.

Labs are clumsy great lumps, and when they happily wag their huge heavy tails, they'll knock over anything lighter than a lawnmower. I can well believe that they cause a lot of insurance claims. Usually they're pretty good tempered though.

Personal injury claims, so that excludes knocking over stuff unless they hit someone with it.

Yeah it was actually Labs i was thinking of. And yeah its a very muddy picture with a lot of people clearly pushing agendas.

The HuffPo has a decent article that goes over how many places warp statistics https://www.huffingtonpost.com/steff...b_8112394.html by lumping a huge swath of dogs as Pit Bulls while keeping other dog breeds distinctly separated.

This article from the American Veterinarian Medical Association is about the most unbiased review of the available statistics that I have been able to find https://www.avma.org/KB/Resources/Li...revention.aspx

    Their conclusion is that
The substantial within-breed variation…suggests that it is inappropriate to make predictions about a given dog's propensity for aggressive behavior based solely on its breed
Of interesting note; the most prevalent breed in their data, for all local's is German Shepards.

That's one of the articles I found that I didn't want to link because it was so blatantly partial. Sure, it has a small point about the lumping together, but the rest is just a rant without offering any viable alternative, so it adds very little to the discussion IMHO.
