Removing DRM from old iTunes tracks

So, I'm about 5 years behind here, but I have a decent amount of music bought from iTunes that's been locked away since my mac died (also years ago), and virtually burning all those CDs is not an enjoyable prospect. Google search found a couple software methods to remove the Fairplay drm, but I have no idea which are up to date, etc. I'd prefer something that just strips rather than re-encoding, if possible.

Anyone done this recently and have any suggestions?

If you have them against your account in iTunes, can't you just download the non-drm versions (iTunes+) without paying more?

Hmm, no idea, I haven't connected to my account for years. Saw the mention of that removal on wikipedia, but didn't know if it was retroactive. Suppose that would make it much easier.

You had to pay the diference between the original track cost and the slightly more expensive non-drm track cost at the time.. But I thought they dropped that policy after they compleatly removed the DRM..
