    Free AV Software

right, so AVG just went full retard (oh all right, they did that two years ago with the interface, but i dont have to fucking LOOK at that anyway) and started whining about the memory consumption of my VM Ware Player and Firefox (just because i got between 10 and 40 tabs open at any given time, and a Virtual machine allocating 2 GB out of 8 is a fucking problem now ?)

so its time to boot it out, because its my computer and i fucking hate applications trying to tell me what i can and cant do. anyway i have heard that Microsoft Security essentials is good, C/D ?

Avira's got a higher detection rate / rating than MSE, but is more obtrusive. Also L2S

meh, i could not really be bothered to search, there i said it. i vaguely remember some discussion about the subject saying MSE was teh shizzle, but knowing how full of shit some posters are id rather not gamble based on memory.

also, your post could be taken as a anal retentive correction of my capitalization of Microsoft Security essentials, nub.

what really pisses me off with AVG is the false positives.

YES I KNOW THAT PACKAGER IS TYPICALLY USED BY TROJANS, NOW LET ME USE MY FUCKING FILE!

marking VNC as "potentially dangerous" is so much that it beggars belief.

Use MSE here. used to use AVG until version 8 iirc when it went tits up, then used Avaast until it let a keylogger onto my rig which allowed my wow acount/email adresses to be hacked.. then told me it was there after the bloody event. Then switched to Nod32 until it decided it would would stall half way through a search everytime it hit the files for WoT.. now been using MSE for a year or so?

I use AntiVir but the daily popup is a bit annoying, almost worth paying for to make it go away.

Yes, but some people need to be informed of that.

For those who are competent at computers, MSE is great.
