It's still boring as shit. And I meant afk heal bot, because as we all know or should, the poking done by the supports is weak.
Past level 2/3, sona's damage is neglectable - ofc ult-stun. Taric has his stun and very little else. Janna same thing.
It's just a very boring role and very passive.
We tried something different yesterday. Solo bot (morgana) and 2 very strong harassers top. Their ad carry and support were obviously underleveled (they didn't switch lanes thank god) in comparison and due to my sustain I was able to negate much of the last hitting - even without any runes.
Up top the plan was to outzone their solo with constant harassment. In the end we won, but it was still harder for us than for their strict-tryhard-meta comp.
TBH, I am playing like on rabies if the situation allows me to as support. Soraka is still A+ for harassing with the silencenuke and I did all I could.
I am serious when I say that I know how to play support - but some double damagelanes are simply impossible to deal with. Soraka is probably the only support to be able to properly deal with this kind of opposition from the beginning of the game, due to her high healing power and not being mana reliant. But these lanes force you to heal nonstop and pull every dirty trick in the book just to simply survive.
JANNA IS FUCKING AMAZING YOU TAKE THAT BACK

Zilean is a fucking awful support in every way.
He puts bomb onto an enemy champion, enemy champion walks into their minion wave putting damage on them and making the lane push and also more then likely, take CS from the ad carry.
I need to start playing Leona, I'm sure we have some decent leona's here, share pls
Yeah double damage lanes are annoying. You simply have to play really passive for a few levels and get behind. After that you can farm and will generally be more useful. It's also often easier to gank their lanes since they will be aggressive.
It's imperative to not give up early kills, that's the only way they will snowball and get ahead.
I'm sure it's frustrating to be sperging about how someone said "no, not doing that yet" - but we've had 7 years to learn to pace ourselves after killing a block. And I dare say -- we've gotten quite good at it.
Sorry if it doesn't suit the armchair generals who have never committed to anything for more than 2 months, but by now we've learned that we really don't give a shit about what you think v0v.
Sounds like bullshit.
Also question, anybody else noticed under the new LoL Replay, replays doubled in size? Before they did the current :awes: update, replays were like 3-5MB, now I'm seeing 7-11MB files consistently.
What gives?
I've got a buddy who likes to play Leona bot lane. Unfortunately, said buddy claims that "support" doesn't actually exist, and so he does a lot of very dumb things with her, like refusing to take CV, or like walking into the middle of a creep wave with his shield up, just to nuke them and "help with your last-hitting". And of course, he's on a shitty connection that drops every 15 minutes, so he can't be trusted with a solo lane, and he refuses to jungle, so he's always bot lane.
Grumbling aside, he's actually pretty good - he's got great timing on stun combos, and if you're on the ball you can often get kills out of nowhere - but you'll need to bring your own sustain to the party, and she's got no harass. You're basically dependant on getting kills to win the lane.
Haha no.
It was Xpecial who started using chalice on Sona, in tournaments. I stole idea from him like 2 months ago, tried it a few times. Good against high harass teams, usually, make you a bit too squishy early game or a bit too late with shurelia. Need to get a feel, when to and when not to. Tear cost much more, gives less mp5, no mr and open a bad build up for sona. You should be getting aegis/shurelia, not AP. And if game still last and you got your hog, boots tier 2, shurelia, aegis and more gold than wards / oracle, buy ramduin omen or starks fervor or will of the ancients. All of them gives more into team than that 80 more AP.
Play blitz if you want a more active support and can hit his skillshot, you'll either zone them out hard or get your carry fed on them. Also you shouldn't need the heals since if they are in range to poke you they are in range of fisting.
Eh, Sona philostone, heart of gold into chalice and shurelya is the build in the top rated sona guide on solomid (by xpecial iirc), so a lot of people are doing that. The guide is pretty old too, so unless he's updated it recently, it's not a very new idea to go chalice on her.
But yes, it gives infinite mana essentially. It's not very expensive and very worth it imo.
Also, microsoftsam: I...at your entire post. I'm not yet lvl 30, but even I know you are playing support completely wrong.. Passive role, boring, afk-healbot, neglectable damage on sona... None of these show any indication you know what you are talking about. Learn to use powerchords correctly.
Edit: Essentially I completely agree with Zekk. Support is what wins bot lanes, the carry should be farming. Support should be taking care of all vision, constant pokes, cv/wards, and essentially allowing your carry to farm for as long as possible without being distracted by anything.
