    I've thought about this as well. I think there should just be an option for a team reshuffle. Everyone votes and the team is returned to solo queue with no chance of being matched with each other again immediately.

    #1 morde build is boots +3, hextech revolver, sorc boots, kage pick, wota, dfg, deathcap. Fuck rylais unless your team has like 0 cc. Your purpose is lol burst damage which turns a fight into a 6v4, and rylais is cost inefficient especially since morde has free health from his shield. Also assuming you are mid (why would you ever play morde top?), ward their wraiths, push lane to turret, go steal wraiths. Enemy wraiths down and lane pushed? Go take your wraiths. Easily can have 200+ CS at 20m doing that.

    If you are vs morde, just go aggressive on him early on when his shield is weak and he has no revolver. Delaying his revolver by forcing him to recall before he gets gold for one majorly impacts his early and mid game, which makes him unable to snowball. Also, jungle ganks rape morde as he has no escape and pushes.

    About the build, though:

    1) Kage's - why? It gives very little AP and you are, by your own admission, going to be farming like a boss. Kages takes about 17min to even pay for itself and you should have in the region of 200cs by 20mins, so it's a drop in the ocean. Other than a tiny chunk of AP and building into an item Morde doesn't need, it's not giving you any stats you want.
    2) Rylais - yes. Always Rylais. I don't know what level you're at but Morde is VERY prone to getting kited even with Rylais - without, I would just laugh at him all day long. It also gives you HP which you need - shield is a decent amount of free HP but if you get stunned you can't charge shield and grats you're dead.
    3) DFG - you don't need the nuke. At least you shouldn't need it. If their team is stacking health to the point that you can't burst someone maybe but I would say it's very low on your list, a full combo should ALWAYS be able to burst a carry down full to dead.

    Really your build is not that great, you're stacking flat AP which makes you a nuke caster, but tons of other casters can do that just as well whilst also being more gank resilient and bringing CC to team. Yes you have ult but if you get stunned you're complete deadweight, and your kit means you can't kite in a teamfight unlike Ahri or Cassio who can dart in and out of fight and cast nukes on cooldown whilst evading.

    Boots + 3 I agree. Hextech Revolver, yes rush this by all means. Then you diverge a little bit - you basically want to have Rylais, Sorcs and Abyssal at some point soon. Which order you get them in is up to you. From there you can either turn revolver into wota or get gunblade - I kind of like gunblade on Morde even with the nerfed stats, wota also got nerfed so it's less omfgop and gun gives you an extra slow. Then you get Zhonya's and a utility item - Lich Bane is always good. You waste the mana but you gain the move speed and your Q will absolutely destroy single targets.

    Basically Morde needs combo of stats to turn into the rapetrain he becomes, flat AP isn't enough because you will get stunned and raped before you can charge any shield.

    I'm ~1500 elo. Again, why do you need rylais? The slow is good but you pay too much for it and the AP/HP is inefficient for the cost. Sure, Morde gets kited, but who cares? During laning phase you should be afk farming, kills are a bonus. With a fast DFG instead of rylais, they will be dead if they drop below like 3/4 health if you flash combo them, so who cares about not having cc? After laning phase, kiting doesn't matter as much since in team fights you will presumably have people on your team with cc who lock down targets for you to nuke. A fast rylais simply delays DFG and deathcap, which you need ASAP to carry hard midgame. And lol @ not buying DFG, it is core on morde and allows you to combo anyone not just a squishy. Bruiser out of position? GG. Your entire purpose is immediately turning a fight into 6v4, why wouldn't you buy an item that helps you immediately do that from long range? You aren't always going to be able to run up and Q them to do your whole combo, often you need to DFG + r + e + ignite from range.

    Also I see you don't mention deathcap?? Do you not get one? How are you bursting carries down when you have no deathcap?

    Just had a 75 minute game.

    We lost at the very end while defending nexus as our tryn was backdooring their nexus.

    They killed ours with 2 hits left on theirs.

    This has restored my faith in the game.

    Is WW no longer a ban at 1500+ elo? Haven't played ranked in a while and now been doing placement matches on my alt and haven't seen a ban yet, mostly been just shen/malph/morg/jaxand some combo of kass/shaco/noct/darius/tf. This is very relevant to my interests

    On a similar note, everyone in placement matches are awful. Last 3 games I guess it couldnt find anyone to match me with due to my high elo so it was a 5m queue and then had me against ~1400 ppl with 500+ games and random 1250 elo ppl who were 4-3 in placement. Dat matchmaking.

    The key to killing/ganking morde is to stomp on him -hard- pre-6. Once he has his ult, you have to keep track of it. AP-scaling %HP damage means he's going to fuck your shit up no matter what. Whenever possible, as soon as his ult's down, beat the shit out of him.

    Due to AP-scaling %HP, you want MR over HP. QSS can cleanse his ult's lasting DoT, it's generally a strong choice against him.

    Poking him doesn't really work after he gets hextech. Before it's effective -if- you can drive damage through his shield or hit him while his shield is down.

    He's got short range and really does need to stomp you in close. If you have a way to slow him from range and blast him down, use it. Also, Kass tends to shit all over him with his silence/slow/blink/blink combo, since it piles on damage and gets the hell out before reprisals.

    Brand isn't half bad if you can maintain range, since he has great burst for dealing with the shield, a stun, and continuing %health damage on skill use. Anivia should be able to shit all over him as long as you're good at landing your skillshots. Fiddles can simply crow->drain->give no fucks because Morde can't stop him with CC and is slow. Morg is basically his hard counter because dark binding + pool + shield = fuck your entire kit morde. Malz can shit all over him due to silencewall->minion aids->pool->ult, Galio's AP bruiser status + mobility make him a solid choice, land a smite, continue landing smites until morde expires. Laugh at his magic damage because you have stupid amounts of MR. Sion (AP or AD) can laugh at him due to shield + stun + ult + ridiculous free AD from glowy axe.

    You're looking for someone who can either apply massive hurt from outside his range, avoid the burst entirely via CC + mobility, or tank the burst long enough to get some healing going.

    Thanks, that will help a lot. Will have to try Morgana, I like her skill set, she just lacks a bit of a burst. I want to buy Galio too, anyway.
    BTWI'm just lvl 18 so no runes yet, as it's just not worth it before 20.

    Actually no, Morgana loses normally to Mordekaiser. She can't outpush/sustain one that isn't brain dead. Teamfighting, she's the better champ by far. Morde needs to get his target dead to make use of his ult's full power, Morgana just flashes in, ults and Zhonyas, calls it a day.

    So what about Ryze? A bit of a kite + Street Fighter like burst combo may be enough to chew through Morde shield... But then sustain and ability to clear creeps is a bit low.

    Dunno, I've seen some say Ryze loses, and some say Ryze wins. Never played Ryze vs Morde, and can't remember the last time I did Morde vs Ryze.

    Also just noticed in the patch notes AP Trist got nerfed.

    It was nerfed in that the E passive doesn't work off spell damage anymore, meaning you can't instagib APs.
