Ez can go mid situationally, and I like him most in that role because he benefits a lot from levels, both for the early ult and high levels of Q and E. He does a LOT of damage with his harass but is quite squishy. His real bane is people who can keep up with him and consistently disable him (especially heroes like Kassadin and Ahri).

He definitely should be building AD items, but his playstyle is much more like an AP nuker. He's on the weak end compared to some other AD heroes you could be playing in bot, so I wouldn't pick him for that role.

He can also jungle (lol), if you REALLY know what you're doing. His clear is actually quite safe and very fast, but he is a pretty poor ganker and needs too much farm for it to be really viable. You might as well jungle TF instead. :P

I've done Jungle Ezreal before, you get Wriggles first but his Q procs so much of his usual items it's not even funny, and yeah his ganks are kinda shitty. BUT SO FUNNY because you have that low CD ult coming outta nowhere.

What makes you say that he's outdated mid? I haven't kept up with ranked too much so I'm not sure what kicks his ass outside the obvious counters. Seems like he could still do it.

outdated doesn't mean the champs can't do it... you could play many ADs and stuff mid no problem generally... how productive it is for the whole team though is a different question (i dont quite know the answer for, besides "it's not meta last i checked?") :P

This would be it. Plus if you play him mid, you probably want to play him AP, I really dislike AP Ezreal. If an AD Carry's mid, probably the AP's going bot, I've seen it described as a common tactic to counter Soraka lanes.

The current meta seems to favor cc. He also tends to have difficulty farming early game, when compared with champs such as Ahri or Cass.

Afaik no, its always been that way so he cant stun people from offscreen.

Swains cool but late game he's more of a tank than a damage dealer, although his damage isn't bad by any means.

Pretty much what Vorkash said, he's less bursty and more rape over time, run in the middle of the enemy team tanking while ultimate is running to tank while your team (hopefully) kills them

Swain more like teamlineup / lane match up counter than standard ap carry. He is great solo top second ap carry.
Used to play him a lot, his playstyle is pretty similar to Vlad, really cool champ to play.

Do you build him full AP or a mix of AP and tank? I used to pick up RoA, Rylai, and a resist item on him as his core, since he needs to be in melee range to really hurt, but I've seen people be successful just going for the usual deathcap on him too.
