speed tanking works on Destroyer below.

But the satisfaction of catching a corvette with torps who's circling you.

    Oh my, the satisfaction.

That is a valid point. However, most ships actually gain enough raw armor by simply upgrading the hull as well, according to Manta (the top player). Since Armor is a percentage amount of your available hull, increasing your hull points also increases the available armor in a very convenient way. As long as you get enough armor at hull upgrades 3 or 4 I would say (your mileage may vary), I would not put 1 point into armor, especially due to exponential returns when maxing a bonus... I would still just upgrade hull.

The thing with scanner is it's better on the bigships like the Dreadnaught.

Think of the Dread as the flagship, with Commandfield + scanner at 3 you have about a 5 second period every 45 seconds where the scanner is down. Then you can focus on offencive items and be more effective at your job.

upgraded torps will one shot destroyers down without the command field anyhow.

Command field, Countermeasures, Reps, Scanner = Come at me Bro. We won a game so easy because all the corvettes would unload everything on me, and not kill me, then die to the counter strikes, trying to get out of my range, but upgraded ranged dreads can broadside from a screen away, good luck running nab.

Was thinking about starting to skill dreads. Once I got crewman for escort rockets:

Escorts / Command Field / Rep / Countermeasures. Decloaking bullets, AoE weapon, raw damage modifier items (and upgrade range ingame), armor bonus items (and upgrade hull ingame)

    edit: Escorts 3 / CF 0 / Rep 3 / CM 0, with MK3 ship, Escorts 3 / CF 1 / Rep 3 / CM 1

edit2: Actually might go bubbleshield over CM and use armor rep 3 to deal with torps.

Personally I find the scanner exceedingly useful on my destroyer as a throwaway 4th skill. It's a cloak hunter by nature and the scanner is a good "oh shit" maneuver and also a good defensive counter when you're on the move.

Counter Measure, Command Field, Scanner and repair

Max out command field and scanner and put the rest into repair. You can spam command field and scanner and scanner will only be down for 5 seconds between scans. This also causes any one in range to take 30% more damage which means no one can come near you or they just melt in team fights.

It'd be to keep my escorts alive as I charge towers so they can all torp, basically.

Better doing it on a cruiser then.

DNs should get Command Field 3, Scanner 3, imo, then you have a perma xp + damage + cloak detection up, making you the uber support. Go damage + range and you're broadsiding targets 3 or 4 times before they even fire back.

Managed to go 2v1 to guard our lab and even getting 2-3 kills in the process. This meant the other lane could stomp into their lab with a 4 on 3 for the easy win.

Of course we had 1 noob who refused to reply on chat and ignored me all game and sat in my lane either staying too far back to help me or rushed in to die to escorts, 2 players and 4 sentries.

Then the 3v3 in the other lane failed horribly and couldn't even keep them off our planet.

Then 5 people came top and crushed our lab.

    Then we lost.

never play with randoms, they are called Random Scum for a reason.

This game reminds me of Navyfield, in that all I do is spin around in my noobship with no idea what to do while me & my team gets blown up by an opposition that seems to take no damage. Also like Navyfield, I don't get it :/

    W to move forwards
    S to slow down
There are 2 speeds middle speed turns better than max speed
Left click to aim guns, left click on ships to track them
Shift Left click makes secondary targets
Right click to steer your ship

^^ a few commands to get you started. Rest is p.obv so i'll let you figure that out!!

The only thing worth adding to that is don't die. Your team is quite literally better off if you sit afk at spawn than if you repeatedly get caught out alone and die pointlessly to the enemy.

Its better than it was but it comes and goes but it normally affects both teams so it doesn't matter too much. its till playable tho as long as you use right mouse button to control your ships direction.
