I remapped everything from the get go (as with every game tbh), The bigger ships tend to have more hull but less shield but one every ship it adds up to 3000 hitpoints. Advantage of the bigger ships is higher armor (reduction of incoming damage I guess) while the smaller ones turn faster and shield regens much much faster than armor so they can hit and run better.

Also every class has a different maximum for subsets. A dread can mount 3 command skills for example while a destroyer can mount up to 3 offensive and a frigate 3 mobility subsystems.

So the bigger ships have more staying power but have to fully commit to the fight while the smaller ones can fuck off easier.

I've noticed with the health bars that once you get past the shield it's part green and part gray, the gray bit seems to be armor, takes hits better, and it looks like you can upgrade your armor, not sure if that's just during battle or part of the leveling. Also if you look at the vid I posted earlier there's lots of missiles and torps flying around, I think the ships must be up-gradable with extra ordinance.

The escorts get little torps when you upgrade the skill.

Good tactic I saw today were 2 dreads working together with timing their shields (AoE damage reduction) and repairs (AoE repair) combined with fully leveled escorts. They waited in the back till they had all 3 escort wings full and pushed with them. They got some kills and damage onto the turrets and turned round when it got hot so they seldom died. Against a full pub team very strong of course.

I decided to stay with my destroyer for now. Fully leveled jammer, rockets, full missile to destroy those escort swarms and teleport in the last slot to GTFO.

It sounds interesting and I've got no work or classes tomorrow, I'll download and check it out after I get home from work.

Escorts for teleport because they give some damage and block loads of shots.

If you press "esc" for the menu you can at some times see the reset time for the server you are on. Leave early enough as the server does not confirm your XP or item gain on a restart. It will do if you leave. Just lost a veterans medal and +5% hull bulkheads and a shitton of XP for my destroyer to that.

The gameplay is pretty good, in terms of overall strategy it takes alot from the DotA genre, you have lanes which small automated fleets of escorts run down and engage. Static deffensive turret's need to be taken out for your fleets to advance and start hitting enemy factories and ultimately their command center. Scattered accross the map are other objectives, planets, icefields, wormholes, etc, each grants some sort of bonus that I'm still figuring out.

Where it get's really interesting though is in the engagements, they've basically taken something akin to age or sail or submarine combat and put it into space. The playing field is two dimensional and each ship has a set of turrets, relying on broadside fire and traking torpedos to damage enemy ships, escorts and turrets. At a factory you can buy up to three escort squadrons (3 ships each for a total of 9 ships) that will follow and fight with you and act as ablative armor early in a fight. As ships trade missile and shell fire manuever becomes important, as at distance you can change speed to avoid kinetics or duck behind asteroids (or allies) to shield against missiles and torpedoes, turning broadside allows you to hit with everything and taking an enemy on the nose or tail limits his ability to hit back. On top of all this each ship has it's own set of special abilities and can be further customized with superior weapons and armor, or even to change it's fighting characteristics and basic abilities.

The game's still pretty rough, seems like they're early in development, not a bad thing though, feels more like how LoL did early on or minecraft, not complete, but definitely very fun and the developers appear commited.

Registered and will try out a game tonight.

Edit: Only done the practice game so far and seems tougher than I thought it would. Trying to keep moving to avoid missiles and still keeping optimal firing angles is pretty hard.

did my first real game this evening, went 2/2/7 (kills/deaths/assists) not bad, although it looked like everyone was noobs, my team trounced the opposition quite handily (probably because 3/4 deserted when we pulled an impromptu encirclement in the center and killed half of them /o\) I find avoiding fire isn't really my specialty, I just plow in with a fully escorted cruiser shield up and try to wreak havoc till I start running out of ablative escorts wherein I run for my life.

Just played my first practice game, the navyfield aspect feels like they nailed all the stuff I hated about navyfield. Yet to play any games with other players though, registered as dpidcoe if anyone feels like adding me.

is there a friend system? I didn't look that hard, I think the devs (5 french guys) are concentrating on game elements before social support.

    also there's a wiki:
    http://www.impactcommand.net/index.php?title=Main_Page

they copy pasted a post from the games forums by a dev with info on new ships in development:
    http://www.impactcommand.net/index.p...e=Support_Ship

The following was posted by Stilgar on Sept 9th, 2011
The support ship is capable of building in a few moments an impregnable fortified position to support its allies. It is a destroyer class ship. Its role is to support its team strengthening the map control.
Here is a preview of the support ship skills:
    __________________________________________________ ___________
    1) Repair outpost:
The vessel creates a repair outpost capable of repairing allied ships.
    2) Stealth Beacon:
The vessel builds a beacon creating a stealth zone for the near allies.
    3) Defense turret:
The vessel can build up to 3 defense turrets. If turrets are built in the area of effect of a repair outpost or/and a stealth beacon, they benefit from their effects.
    4) Tactical mines:
The vessel is capable of putting furtive mines imposing heavy damage to the opponent’s ship.
    __________________________________________________ ___________
Here are 2 images of the new ship:

I take advantage of this news to give you the release order of the classes, it is necessary to know that every class tonnage will have its alternative class.
    - Support ship: Fortified the map control. Destroyer tonnage. - Carrier: A ship transporting fighters, bombers and the other assault ships. Dreadnought tonnage. - Artillery ship: A ship equipped with a heavy artillery cannon, specialized in long range fire support. Cruiser tonnage - Spy ship: A prototype using advanced technologies to deceive the enemy by emitting ghost ship images. Corvette tonnage. - Phase ship: A ship capable of drilling the reality to have a walk in a parallel dimension, the submarine of space. frigate tonnage.
We are going to make our possible to release a ship monthly.
    Good game and have fun!

Totalbiscuit just did a wtf on this, looked like it was laggy and full of issues.
I asked for some advice in a department store about a gift for someone special.

The sales assistant said "we have a beautiful selection of gold necklaces and diamond rings just in".

I replied "no thanks, the fucking spastic will just eat those, got any Spiderman bibs?"

There is no lag in custom games if the host is not on a wooden modem. At least we had no problems yesterday when we sparred for a while.

I have played two games now.

Loving it so far, had A FUCKTON of rubberbanding but firing broadsides delights me so much I almost don't care.
Will buy this, especially for 10 bucks.

Played a bunch of games last night and found myself getting angry at teamates who were asking questions like "how do I shoot". I noticed some rubberbanding, but it would usually only come in waves and only occasionally.
