This game looks better, with better support, and isn't and hopefully wont be "find hill, hide behind it. DIE when you come out. Repeat." alpha strike on both teams nonsense. Also the info warfare thing is sweet, controls look smoother, graphics are better, it'll be more open to the public because it's more publicized so more people will play...etc etc etc?

The MWLL folk are excited for it. More Mech games can't be bad, and finally because it looks like a better brawler game than we've seen of late with any kind of mech combat.

http://unifiedpoptheory.com/mechwarr...-beta-footage/ <- some beta footage of a guy piloting a Jenner. Shows some of the scouting ideal, the awesome of jump jets and general gameplay/match mechanics as it is.

There's another video of a hunchback, but I'm having a hard time finding a source that hasn't been taken down. Will edit this post if i find it.

Edit: Found it. http://www.gamestar.de/index.cfm?pid=1589&pk=66559 <- Hunchback gameplay, vaguely higher quality.
Wish my connection was this good. For the most part heavy lag and extreme rubberbanding, trying to use the AC on non-static targets is almost impossible.

    Also jumpjets are shit
Please remember that they keep telling us that this is without the production hardware and the full lines installed. They're hoping to get that done by Aug 7th...and even then, they're focusing on features and bugs right now, much like every online game of late, they're probably not going to optimize the net code for ages, maybe till post launch and then improve it as they go along finding new snags to unsnag.

The net code thing is actually just my optimisim, I admit. But here's hoping! :P

Shiny. Gameplay looks somewhat more simplistic than I'd hoped, I know you can't tell me anything I ask because of :lolNDA: so I'll just say that Atlases look incredibly fucking scary and that's just the way it should be.

None of the lasers we saw were large lasers were they? surely they sound a bit meatier. I also liked the flamer effect from the Commando on the snow map, a bit sad that it didn't melt the snow but feh.

These leaked vids of actual combat rather than trailers excite me. I shall now go throw money at them and then have some private time

No, I am just disapointed because my personal expectations were not met. As I said, to me at least this game looks like a clone of MPBT 3025. Good looking but blatant copy, which is not bad and bottom line it is what they promised, but not what I`d expected. MWLL on the other hand, wishfully, will.

Of course I will give MWO a shot, long enoug I went through an BT reletad dry spell

For me while MWLL filled a spot it missed the mark by quite a long shot in almost all areas it is just not quite right, that makes it for me feel very shallow and lacks and engagement. For a mod it is fantastic but just .
Fully expecting MWO to completely miss as well so no high expectations.

Well, regarding the discussion relating to filling a spot that we've been missing.

There won't be a campaign (in the beginning), so (at launch) there wont be a new 'Mech saga where your company slowly grows and eventually becomes the powerhouse to be reckoned with in the Inner Sphere. That much is true. They are working on some PvE content that will be vaguely story orientated but currently its pointless to speculate about how much of an impact this will have on your experience. My personal theory is that the Clanners will be NPCs initially and we have to salvage all Clan tech by salvaging it off entire stars of Clan 'mechs. It'll be somewhat like a WoW raid or an overworld boss mob akin to GW2. /theory

This has arena style combat but it also has city combat and quite large maps available too. Limited number of maps initially to be sure, but I am really hoping that the number of maps goes up, and it's only fair to assume that they will continue to make more maps for at the least the beta process.

Fighting enemy mechs looks very exciting, and not knowing where they are is exhilarating. There's multiple paths, there's multiple ranges to engage at...and as always, there's multiple fits that can work depending on meta and FotM.

All in all, I don't know what is dissapointing so far about this game, but between this and Hawken, I'm more than sorted for 'Mech games.

My expectation is that it will be fun. Anything else is icing on the cake and I'll try to appreciate those features.

So what we all desire, is a campaign driven MW.

I really dislike the UI in MWO and I wished a 3rd person view would be possible.

I'm just expecting WoT with battlemechs.

    Anything else is pure gravy.

So let me summarize (tiny bit of whiteknigthing) what MWO will give promised and delivered on:
    - you can drive a MECH
    - all Mech types are needed for a successful team and not simple drive the biggest one available
    - teritorial warfare, houses, mercs, rank progression within the house hierarchy
    - F2P
    - 12 vs 12 combat
    - Mech type and Pilot based XP and progression
    - Mechlab, customization (canon-like) and skins (pink horror etc)

Can you tell me what further expectations do you have for a Mech game?

It must be hugely complex and unaproachable so I can feel elitist and then moan when the game has no one else playing

Needs to have a stompy quality, your in 30 - 100tons of armour and weapons the ground has to shake when you move, turning to a target should have some drama to it not twitch-killed the mech >90 degress off facing. guns need to roar, pulse and boom not chatter, zap and ping.
