Fuck PGI. Still didn't receive one even though i grabbed my pilot name on day fucking one.

I played mechwarriors since before it was cool.
And i will play this here bitch without donating a single dollar raping every single ~founder~ senseless.

Spent like 200$ on vodka and canned beaf in the last week though chilling at a lake under summer sun in 25-30 c*. Felt good.

Absolutely in love with my 1C Dragon. Good firepower at all ranges, great combination of armor and speed.

Gah, I'm going to cave and buy the Founder's getmeinthebeta thing.

Sorry for reasking the question, but which mech should I go for? Does it matter that much?

Nah it's pretty much like tanks.

Are you dense or something? Of course it matters.
Read up about presented mechs on sarna.net.

I case you refer to which founders mech to get, you can change them so nothing is set in stone

They haven't explicitly said yes or how yet. It's likely, but I would still try and pick something good.

I am going for the Hunchback. Mainly because I figure it's a middleweight heavy hitter that should be relatively cheap to repair when compared to the heavies like the Catapult and Atlas. The Catapult is nice, but I just don't like the looks of it too much tbh. And let's face it. We only play games based on their looks.

I might still change it to Atlas or Catapult. Jenner is too schizophrenic for me though.

Well you can change them for now (on the website).
Perhaps you can try out the different mechs in the closed beta atm (dunno) and see what plays best for your personal style. I recon that once the founders deal runs out they won't allow that anymore but that's still 6 days away.

I'll present a simplified explanation of the 'Mechs by making halfassed comparisons to EVE ships. As a note on Founders' 'Mechs, default loadout wise they are carbon copies of the "prime" variants. Ingame stats aren't likely exactly the same as tabletop stats, but I've still linked the equivalent 'Mechs from the Battletech wiki.

JR7-D Jenner is the Rifter: small and fast.
It can be fit to pack some punch, but if someone with a big gun gets it on the crosshairs, it's gone. Its primary defense is its speed (and jump jets).

HBK-4G Hunchback is the (Afterburner) Thorax: needs to get close for facemelting damage (but is slow).
It carries a big gun, but needs to get close to use it effectively. As a tradeoff of carrying a BFG, it is somewhat slow (though you can throw in an extralight engine, but those take a lot of space and makes it difficult/impossible to fit the largest guns, assuming the devs stick close to tabletop rules). Unlike the Thorax, people won't laugh at you if you fit gauss and go PVP.

CPLT-C1 Catapult is the Drake: forecast for today: it is raining missiles.
Either dishing damage at close range with unguided SRMs or shooting indirect missile fire, the Catapult is a fire support 'Mech. The Catapult has jump jets, so it's actually more mobile than the Hunchback. (As a difference to the Drake, while it's a heavy, it doesn't really have a tank without serious modification to the fit.)

AS7-D Atlas is the Abaddon: tanking and ganking rod of gold ugly.
The default loadout is very varied (lots of lasers, BFG, a few missile launchers) meaning that it is guaranteed have a good array of hardpoints, giving a nice array of fitting options. Of course, it is very slow.

So catapult is more like a caracal?

I wonder if anyone remembers what a caracal is.

I would do it but Dota 2 and DayZ are already taking up all my time.

The months of premium account is only for after beta right? It's not some kind of "beta-premium"?

The official stuff is here: http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/138...eloper-update/

My personal guess would be that premium starts to run after whenever is the last wipe of beta "characters" (for the lack of a better word). There's been some concerns about people being away for holidays (back when they still were planning to start earlier). I think we had a dev response on a thread requesting for the subscription time to start rolling only after the first login after subs become active, but personally wouldn't count on it.

Regardless, I've got a pretty good feeling about PGI / IGP. When the company president posts "okay today I played Customer Support all day" it kind of feels like they're taking things seriously, "indie" developer or not.

So, with the new patch that makes AC/2s fire twice as fast (now once per second), comedy 3x AC/2 Dragon-5N is a go?
