    RAC's are terrible

you're better off with a ERPPC or a Gauss rifle almost every time.

Nope, RAC is better, because it's an assault cannon/minigun, and therefore wins with rule of cool.

    The end.

unless it jams, or misses like it's likely to do.
and let's not forget the atrocious ammo consumption, a RAC/5 can spend like a ton of ammo in three turns.

RAC has excellent damage to weight to heat. Jamming and ammo is only really an issue if you hold down the max rate of fire. Besides, you can unjam if you need to.

you need at-least three round bursts, all hitting from a RAC/5 to compete with a heavy PPC and that's assuming everything will hit.

    and it wont.

i grant that it's a neat gun but it's still not going to beat out the PPC's, the only real advantage is its low heat generation, making it a excellent compliment to a already PPC/Pulse Laser heavy mech, while being harsh enough on the ammo to empty the bins before you realistically get breaches.

the RAC/2 is all failwhale though.

OK, I can agree with that. Gotta spend all that heat sinking somehow. RAC/2 is functional as a long rang SRM, but then why not just use an LB-5X.

Is the Naglfar the best dread? Hell no; but it is vertical. Forget min-maxing for a bit and embrace the giant death robot with giant death chaingun.
    Style victory, best victory.
