seems like a decent year in the timeline for an mmo..

Ugh, basically sounds like it'll be "World of Mechs", no thanks.
Sam I am, and I love green eggs and ham.
*breaks out battletech wiki*
So in 3058.. errr... 2021.. I get to use a Kodiak? Guess I'll see if the game is still going then..
Edit: OK, so I have found an article on the 3050 tech readouts.. 'New' Technologies include:
o Double Heat Sink
o CASE
o MASC
o Triple Strength Myomer
o Endo Steel
o Ferro-Fibrous Armor
o XL Engine
So fun times for all.. (At least its all 'new' stuff so its not going to be used on everything.)

So they are hoping to implement new stuff in synch with the fluff timeline?
Sounds ambitious, i mean i dont remember the details, but according to the wiki Tukayyid was 3052, and afaik kindof marks the point after wich lostech starts filtering into common use.
So 3 years only releasing vanilla craptech designs, dont think thatll work out. F2p needs regular releases of new shiny. But ill keep an open mind. Or i have the timeline mixed up.

I suspect this was the defining choice for the start time.. Start with the basic stuff just before all the new shiny stuff starts to filter in, so you can keep the basic stuff free and add all the new shiny stuff to the cash store as it gets released..
I mean lets face it.. Coding something like a double heatsink is not gona be that hard of you have already made the base code flexible enough to handle it..
Edit: Also, still not really interested in an online version of mechwarrior.. Even if it is World of Mechs..

An online mechwarrior game is in the works and you only wonder about male or female customization?
How about musclebound genetically engineered freaks, humans genetically engineered with proportions of saucer aliens, cybernetically augmented religious purists and humans with neuro-enhancements wrapped all over their skin so their entire body is an interface. Turn in your Battletech fan club card now and do not come back.
If you refuse I will have to challenge you to a circle of equals.
She got killed by a nobody with jump jets. She is a disgrace to the Kerensky name.
Pistols at dawn. Pick the one marked unusable plz.

Did you read the post that said there is not going to be pay to win, or the article that it linked? From the article:
Pretty obvious to me.One of the most important things in any F2P games, in my opinion, is not allowing players to buy skill. The fastest way to destroy your game is to allow your players to buy something that gives them a tactical advantage over an enemy. So we’ve been very careful about what you can purchase and what you need to earn.

29xx-3025 era with 2750 era lostech as the whole "p2w" could combine the best of both worlds, keep the rare tech rare and avoid the later era problems.
3025 era stuff is where the generalist mechs are king and boats are fucking fail.![]()
OH BOY, YET ANOTHER F2P MMO. I CAN'T WAIT.
Fuck, I'm so disappointed right now.
