I find it ironic that arnar's blog is the complete opposite of the transparency that Hilmar spoke of encouraging as this 'sneak preview' to the winter expansion is nothing more than a list of name drops of low hanging fruit. I mean I don't mean to sound ungrateful but the blog pretty much said nothing new at all and I think it's downright condescending considering how much build up the thing received.
If this limp dicked feature list is CCP's attempt at re-engaging with the community they're wrong. They need to show their plans, share their ideas and stop instantly gaging anyone who dares to share such information(NDA, marketting etc). I'm posting this in the CSM thread because I feel that the CSM should realise this if they haven't already

I liked the old ccp that posted their plans publicly and even if they didn't follow through with them or the scope of it changed they still posted them. I know the reasons for why they don't now - which is so people can't go BUT YOU SAID YOU'LL DO THIS LIKE -THIS- but if it's such a big deal just throw a disclaimer at the end key words being 'subject', 'to', 'change'. Then all the rabble getting furious calling you liars and cheats are just fucking idiots because you said it was subject to change. Instead, CCP refuses to say anything that isn't already set and stone and is usually a week before the actual content release. So we receive nothing but a half-baked idea from someone completely out of touch of the subject matter that is completely broken in both the aspects of not working as intended and the fact that it's fucking useless within the scope of the game.
Right now or perhaps previously if Hilmar is to believed, CCP thought of nothing else but fucking marketing. And it fucking shows with the dismal expansions that have been release as of late. The only criteria for a new feature was 'is it shiny' 'will it sell' and 'how much can we play it up to be more than it is' remember tyrannis? I sure fucking do, where is the PI that was shown in the trailers and at fan fest? It never existed it was just a marketting gimmick to make a boring half-baked feature look entertaining.
Less marketing more transparency I'd rather hear about features and ideas being scrapped on a daily basis than see another marketing and legally approved dev blog with zero content.
For me, they tend to hit right when I get in from work and can sit down and read it properly. It's also US prime, and for some reason Americans seem to have less trouble web-browsing in work hours.
I suspect that's coincidence, though. I bet the blogs hit at ~6PM Icelandic time for the exact same reason my customers send in all their requests just before noon and just before 5PM. Time to go, can't procrastinate, fiddle or tweak anymore: hit submit and get your coat.
Thats because they havent gotten into full development swing for the expansion yet. In Zulus blog they talk about hiring/moving more people to work on this stuff and it looks like they are just starting to move beyond the initial planning of the release. its going to take them a little time to decide HOW they want to go about balancing and fixing these things and then move on to implementing it. After that if they feel like there is time left then they can add more things to the list. I think too many people are holding out till CCP fixes everything everywhere all at once which is impossible. This is just how the software development cycle works.

As I said in the blog thread. If it's such an issue which I can see it being as one why even make fanfaire about an upcoming balance patch disguised as an expansion? Why not break the status quo by saying 'this winter there's no expansion but we're going to release a lot of balance and bug patches instead' and while doing that they work towards the big 'fo real' expansion that's slated for next year. I was more irritated by the fact that they don't actually say how they think they're going to improve or change the things they listed not the fact that the list was short. I mean they could have that stuff slated for the next blog in which case why does this one actually exist? why not just hold out for the next one? I had the same issue with the previous 'placeholder' blog that was posted last week or whenever it was.

Right I was saying that they haven't fully decided how they are going to improve or change things because they havent gotten there yet and its not something the lead guy does. Based on how they have done blogs for FiS features in the past(I know its been a few years but you probably remember) is they have the overview blog from producers then a little later each team comes around and blogs about their specific things they are changing. I'd say that the teams have only just gotten their assignments and are currently brainstorming on how to fix them. So probably within two weeks we should start seeing all those team blogs about the specific changes.

But your demanding information (the type of information marketing is made for) at a time that just isn't feasible as production hasn't even begun. Hell, planning hasn't even finished.

That "limp-dicked feature list" is exactly what we've been asking for the whole time. You're whining that there's not enough new shiney in there? Really? You actually want more rushed, incomplete new stuff?
I am happy to take Seleene and co. at their word that they pushed for Winter to be lots of little fixes instead of a bunch of rushed, incomplete new features.
