    The Dominion thread

Been testing it today. Highly addictive and basically removes all the main issues I had with LoL (super boring bot laning, turtling under towers, games lost at 10 mins because your mid lane fed)

What do you think of it ?

    WAT IS IT

Dominion is a capture style map, means there is no towers/nexus to destroy but instead you need to secure and hold cap zones to reduce the enemy's Nexus hp (and win when it gets to 0) Games are fast-paced, favor ganks and small fights instead of boring farming and 5v5 teamfights.

    GAMEPLAY

    Le map

    1 : Nexus.
    2 : Cap zones.
    3 : Speed buffs
4 : Health packs. These spawns at 2.00 and respawn every 30 secs
5 : Shield buffs. 1 available per team, need a 2 sec channel to pick one up. It gives you extra hp and reflects a % of 1 tick of damage every 4 secs (think thornmail but also works on magic damage). I'm standing on them so you don't see on map

    Items, spawning, gold

You start with 1375 gold and lvl3. During all the game you win experience passively and much much more gold than in Summoner's Rift. A champion can complete a full build in 20-25 mins easily. Champion kills don't give a lot of gold and you usually dont have much time to farm creeps.

Items see : http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Dominion/Items . Dominion has new items and you can't use some from Summoner's Rift like Banshee. "Prospectors" items replace Dorans but can't be stacked. They cost 920.
    NO WARDS/WRIGGLES

    Capping and winning
Each team starts with 500 Nexus hp and no capture points.
To cap a point, you need to right click it to start a channel. Your champion will be unable to move or use any skill while capping, but you can cancel at any moment (exactly like ONS maps in UT2004 with the Link Gun) ; also taking damage cancels capturing . It takes around 8 secs to cap a point, less if you have more players capturing, more if it was previously owned by the enemy.
The second a team has more points than another, the other team starts loosing Nexus hp.
If team A has 3 points and B 2, B looses 1 Nexus hp every second
    If A has 4 and B 1, B looses a bit more (Like 1,5/sec)
Killing an enemy removes 2hp to their Nexus

    [i]Creeps[i]

They deal slightly more damage than usual, also each wave or so has a bigger creep that replaces the cannon minion (and deals more damage). A big enough creep wave can cap a point.

    CHAMPS

Obviously anything with high mobility and early/mid game dominance is powerful in this map. Vayne, rammus, poppy, singed etc you get the idea

twitch for super fun roaming play, hes like a little rat trouble shooter

will try AP shaco for box traps on the MID buffs

so yeah its a fun roaming teamfight fest, although high mobiltity/high health split captures will be a pain.

So, it was 88 to 4 (we had 4 left). We won. I just farmed them on top with Jax and capped like a mofo.

    So good.

You all still worry me, being (ex-) EVE players and excited about an expansion named Dominion.

I found it a little more fun than yesterday, but character balance does strike me as a pretty big issue. Anyone with a real strong mid/late game on summoners rift is going to destroy this. Jax, Nasus, Morde (as it turns out), seen those chars dominate the games I've been in. Kassadin seems pretty powerful as well, but I only saw him once.

Tried it a few times, won 4 out of 5 while duoing with Drax. I think there are a lot of amazing champs on this map, rest is avarage.

King tier: Ezrael, Akali, Vayne, Jax, Rammus, Nocturn, Lee Sin, Cass, GP, Kennen, Katarina, Udyr, TF, Xin Zao, Yi, Heim, Irelia.

That's pretty much what i saw and played so far with very cool results. Ghost on everyone, second summoner is up to you - promote is cool, exhaust is okish, revive very nice.
Don't build up shit items, if you play well you will finish it with 4-5 end game items easily. Entropy is retardly sick, true dmg activation + slow? In other words, free red buff for you and build up very nicely. I very like anti invi items, both as one and magic. Do not get roa / aa / warmogs. No way you can get even 1/3rd of stacks. Do buy lifesteal / spell wamp items. Gunblade, sanguine, wota are best early items. Wanted to say boots of mobility on everyone but i find zerks to help a lot as vayne last game. Not sure about merc threads.

    Opinions?
So far - great, fast warm up mode. I will play one before playing any standard games every day i guess not to play cold. Is it good enough to take players from rankeds queues or draft normals? Doubt it, but i believe a decent amount of players, after hype faint, will stick to it. It's like, yet another alternative for ones that don't like 5vs5's and used to play TT just to have players cooperate more.

Six game marathon, last game ended with enemies turning 12 points into a win. Nocturne and Lee Sin are fucking amazing, just rush Entropy and maybe the new BF sword / vamp sceptre dominion item.

Played it first time just now, won first time just now. Shaco boxes are evil for protecting points... that's about all.

Poppy looks like she was built for this game type. I haven't had time to play it yet but really looking forward to it.

How big is the map, compared to the semi global ults on characters like TF, Noct and Pant? Team Global ult worth trying or are the games just too short for ultimates to make much difference?

    PS2 (Miller-EU) - SRTroN

Poppy should esp work since almost all fights are near some wall or other obstacle, cant really miss a charge stun.

Other things ive learned so far:
Zerging is bad, if you see a 1v2 situation go out of vision range and wait for your chance. Have lost a game or two because people just rushed to the nearest enemy control point after respawn.
The other thing is, champion kills DO matter, but less because of gold/xp and more because of the respawn timer. So my favourite summoner spells are exhaust and ghost or exhaust and promote, wich brings me to:
Minions matter, but in a different way. Firstly, the gold per minion is higher, 60g per melee minion i believe? Secondly, promoting into a superminion can turn a hostile point neutral without any champion capping, meaning you can do something else. Plus, capping a point with minions in tow significantly speeds up the process, the max for me was something like 10 sec solo vs 3-4 secs with two minion waves.

Overall its fun and new, but the difference between a practiced team and couple of newcomers is already noticeable.

Depends on whether or not you can be on when they open a testing window.
