What invoker build are you using, th? You should be able to out-harass him to all hell, but SF is hard to out-cs because of razes, he can push the lane to get runes harder than you can, and if you don't build hp items he'll burst you down. You basically have to go heavy quas for HP and Cold Snap and harass him out early.

i've been playing a build iceiceice has been using (with minor changes) where you max exort, get 1 point in quas and one in wex (with a second point in quas when u cant level exort or invoke), I usually get level 2 sunstrike because laning vs sf is and should be easy and sunstrike is pretty much the best spell ever.other than always dying to sf i have no problems really playing the hero at all

i just always manage to brainfart and eat 3 razes every fucking game at level 3, i know its ridiculously easy to beat sf with quas build but that shit is boring and i think its perfectly easy to beat sf with exort build ( and i do win the lane, bar dying at level 3 every time by playing like an idiot)

SF has no stun, the only way to die to him is to get way too cocky and let him raze you multiple times. Pretty simple not to get 3 shot... don't run at him or away from him in a straight line.

If the glass cannon exort isn't working, level balanced quas and exort then, keep cold snap invoked unless you are sunstriking a sidelane. If you get in a fight with SF, cold snap when he gets creep aggro. He's squishy and has no defense skills at all.

Finally SF is an incredibly easy hero to gank. Not always an option but a gank is amazing for setting back his soul count.

yeah, just go standard forge spirit / cold snap build against SF, if you just play a bit safer (Q R Q E Q E R Q E E) for once you should be fine.

1) Do something about the fact that leavers are endemic. Probably 70% of games have a leaver, there's just not enough of a punishment for it.
2) Take all the hard carries out of all pick. There's almost no reason to play them in pubs and all that happens is you get people who can't farm playing duo carry lanes.

you maybe have a point about leavers, apparently its pretty bad recently, only fix (and this fixes 99% of problems with dota) is to find people you enjoy playing with and play with them

Problem is i'm not willing to play the 40-50 games it might take to get out of shit tier. I'm not good at the game and I know i'm not, but I do want an enjoyable game, and I'm not really willing to invest 40 hours of completely unfun gameplay to get that fun afterwards.

then go play something else, dota clearly isnt the game for you.

dota is a competitive game with a steep learning curve, it wont take 40-50 games to get you out of shit tier, you are just there because your win rate or whatever they base their hidden mmr on dictates you belong in there. put some work in, do some social networking and build up a base of players you enjoy playing with, get better and you will find out just how rewarding this game is.

also for those of u who played with me b4 this might sound like hypocrisy but i can say from experience that if you rage less, you will enjoy the game more

Right, okay, forget shit tier...all mobas/dotalikes have this problem:

Percieved skill level imbalance. So I played a game a little while back, Zeus + Skeleton King lane. Okay it's an awful lane but whatever, he didn't pick until 20 seconds after game and immediately after I picked Zeus someone grabbed Huskar and insisted on midding, so whatever. Zeus + Skeleton King can be nasty, stun + hard burst isn't bad. Except the Skeleton King isn't taking his stun. He started boots + health potion and was maxing his lifesteal. Around level 5 he finally listened and took stun - and proceeded to immediately stun their Chaos Knight on their tower and attempt to dive him under a Spirit Breaker. There's not a single part of his play so far that I would consider good play - and there's usually a couple of guys like this in every game. Most of the time they're nicely spread between the teams but occasionally they're not.

I had a point here but now it's gone because I remembered that SK and now I want to punch someone.

the only way to get away from that is to play single player games, or games where your team isnt as important, like bf3 or w/e.

best you can do is play with people you know, or play pubstompers until you get to a level where teams can be relied on.

im in high tier matchmaking now, and while you do still get retards, there are also much much more games now where the team is competent. also, play on us east.
