IXION - story-driven colony builder in space with a bit Frostpunk

There was a very limited demo available earlier this year, which some of the channels I*ve subscribed to played. And in the demo, it looked a bit simplistic/easy to master. But now that the full version is out and people started play throughs, it's obvious that it's more complex and requires more effort. I'm interested!

OK, I watched a full playthrough of it.

Unfortunately it does seem to have very little replay value.

The story is nice, the final resolution is good. But there don't seem to be any randomized events happening (perhaps the tiny ones inside the ship). Not even the loot drops are randomized.

The only replay value comes from the options of the events in the system you're in. If you picked a bad one: reload and try the others until you maximized the rewards. And also form learning the sizes of each building, so that you can put them more space efficient the next time around. Which doesn't even require another replay, as you get all resources back from a building when scraping it. So you can rearrange anything w/o worrying about lost resources.

That's where you lost me. The final chapter killed my interest completely (especially after i read some spoilers).

Yeah there is 0 replay value, it's basically a pretty 60 hour puzzle. And even though you can redevelop your entire infrastructure at no resource cost the trick is to not fall down on essential production in the process and corner yourself.

      Spoiler:

"Good" in the sense that it doesn't have that all-embracing happy end, but that you turn the ship, in which you had so much invested over the course of the game, into a gigantic missile and blow it up. They also seem to folow through with the omnious hints they throw at the player in the event messages throughout the game.

Ah, I see. A matter of taste, I guess. That didn't bother me.
