I appreciate receiving the beta key from this thread but I've been having nothing but problems with this game. It seems to crash out and lock up my GPU at every available opportunity and I play with the lowest settings. I had worked my Templar up to level 9 and I was just starting to get a picture of what kind of build I wanted to use (Dual Wielding with Elemental Damage) when I crashed and died, losing all the cool items in my stash. Yes, I was playing hard core mode. The game is fun, but I'm done fucking with this game until the glitches are worked out.

Now a few levels higher and summoning zombies, tossing fireballs/icespears around and looting shiny things.

Sounds like something you should feedback to the devs.
I'm running at max settings on my crappy old computer and haviong no trouble at all.

Varcus: Witch? I just restarted as one of those. aoe is fun! I run around aggroing as many as I can, and then proceed to serve them fite and lightning all over the area. Exactly what i was hoping for when i switched from my ranger.
The ranged oneshots almost everything, but you do have to shoot every single one in the face. :P

Protip.... you're the kind of terrible beta tester that developers don't want in the game.

You got a key to a BETA product, and found a potentially serious flaw with the game and appear to have.... come and bitched about it on failheap-challenge.

The proper response is to submit a detailed account of what happened to the devs, and continue playing the game as a TESTER, even if that means you lose your precious shiny gear due to playing on hardcore mode. Your experience and feedback is important to them so that they CAN fix it, not that you sit back and wait for them to magically divine that there's a problem with compatibility on your setup and fix it so you can go back to getting what you're treating like an "early entry pass" to the game.

Unless you did do that, but given your last sentence it sure as hell doesn't sound like it.

act 1 seems to run a lot more smoothly than act 2 for some reason

i think i want to try a minion or lightning witch next. or maybe a duelist. i'm up to level 40 or so with my cold witch, about to get into the third difficulty level. getting to the point where i need to find gear with lots of linked sockets, so i can use a ton of support gems to get more damage out of cold snap. i pretty much just cast elemental weakness on everything then use coldnap on a huge mob of enemies and watching everything freeze and explode into pieces.

I'm using mainly sparks and firestorm, but I made the mistake of increasing the "Area of AoE spells" two steps, thinking that it would have the same density but over a larger area.
But nope. it just spreads the same ammount of fireballs over a much larger area, transforming the firestorm from a "zone of death" to a "general area where you get hit my fire if you're unlucky". So I lost my main aoe weapon that was working so well before I fucked it up.
I have taken to just flooding an area with sparks before I even go close.
Kind of works.

so if you use thatone. Put your points in +damage. not +area.

Wierdly the game ran better for me during beta. I could run it in beta in highest settings with ~40 fps but on release, lowest settings barely gives me 20

downloading the 0.9.5 patch right now. some huge changes. finally can sell things to vendors. passive skills are wiped for everyone and all existing characters have been moved to a legacy league, so they want everyone to start over from scratch, basically. think i'll stay with the witch class still.

what do you guys think the unannounced class will be?

Think there is only one combo left (dex/intel ?) but all my items
