Thanks to a pr0 FHC lurker (oh hai bashar) I got into this. Duel wielding duelist is a go

I love playing duelists for some reason. I have a Bow duelist as my main (in act 1 ruthless right now) and a Dual Swords as my secondary.

Swords are shit. You get enough +accuracy from dex and axe nodes to offset the sword accuracy innate.

Played this for a week, here's my review:

One of the most boring games I ever played. I remembered why I actually only liked Diablo for the cinematic cutscenes and the story, this type of game is the most mindnumbing experience I can have on a computer besides going on Facebook.

I'm sorry you spent the whole week mindnumbingly bored. I can't get the game to run without it crashing my Direct3d driver in the first ten minutes.

large patch just came out, and has reset passives.

They also made difficulties harder, and i was already having problems getting the medicine chest on merciless with my bow duelist

They nerfed Discharge into oblivion...kinda expected since I showed the devs how abusable it was and rode it to #8 on the ladder

Now I'm doing 4-8k a blast, with both power+endurance charges...when i was doing 20k with just endurance charges. Doubt I can run Chaos now but least I can farm fellshrine quick still.

Wow they massively fucked over dex classes cause most of them relied on those frenzy charge bonuses. They just fucking took em away and didn't give us shit in return. I'm doing half the damage I did pre patch and I'm even squishier than before thanks to the new difficulty. Even with the buffed armor and hp values.

defence passives were buffed - yay
with the 9.7a patch i took a 33% DPS hit to improve my defences and still had trouble with normal mobs in Merciless. Hopefully it's better now

How's this game compared to Diablo 2 or Torchlight? Worth going through beta key hassle?

You might as well sign up for the Beta. It doesn't cost you anything but your time. I signed up back in Sept and am still waiting for a key though, so don't expect to get one tomorrow.

There is something in that for people with beta access- a legacy migration. All characters will be moved to a legacy league, so we'll all need to start from scratch in the new one.
