Most modern recurves are laminated with fiberglass and other synthetic materials, real horn bows are hideously expensive

H&K was really pissed. Now an internal inquiry found out that probably Haenel violated some patents of H&K (Magpul magazine) and according to law the award to Haenel was suspended and a complete new evaluation of the offers is possible. LOL.

Yeah, just read that. What a shit show.

Though interesting thing: the designer of the Haenel gun is the former H&K designer.

Oh well. Maybe a new tender will not see the Rheinmetall/Steyr design drop out.

A bit heavy, but with a quick release barrel similar to the AUG.

Fun fact: barrel is the most expensive part of an AK so nobody ever bothered to make it changable.

4.2 kilos? Lmao fuck off, that's literally M14 weight.

AR and AUG had a baby. 4.2 is a might bit heavier than other stuff indeed.

I see why they'd want to encapsulate everything into the upper, to maintain zero and all that.

But what's the deal with the safety? Unless it's meant to be vertical like typical AR platforms?

Also, can someone explain why companies make pins that aren't fully retained? Just seems like another small part begging to be dropped and lost.

Side rail retains zero like a champ, this is done to have a longer rail without a massive adapter or something. But they can't quite match the weight saves offered by a tinfoil dust cover.

Also this is a prototype, surely they will make captive pins if this goes anywhere.

The safety is a standard AK switch selector, they removed the rest of it (and the cover feature) for a smaller toggle then put in a port cover on spring flap.
