    Nebulous: Fleet Command

Homeworld, but it's uglier and more complicated. Also Multiplayer.

I can't decide if this looks interesting, or if it looks like it desperately needs a new UI/UX designer. On the one hand, it seems like they've prioritized functionality over looking cool, but to such a degree that they didn't even bother to make it look decent.

Edit: The one thing that could make it stand out is the more detailed damage model, but only if it matters. Sure, it's neat to say that each major component of a ship is individually modeled and takes damage and impacts ship performance, etc, but only if ships survive long enough for the damage to matter rather than simply going pop.

Might keep an eye on this one. Maybe.

    Edit 2:

    Alright, I'm interested.

Concept is great but the UI is beyond a turnoff.

This isn't even dwarf fortress level UI where elegance has been sacrificed to allow maximum complexity. This is just a bad UI designer doing a shitty job. A good UI designer would take LONGER to reproduce this mess as it is than to create an actual good UI; there's no saving and it's incredibly ugly and jarring for no benefit in terms of resources, performance, complexity or anything. It's just bad because whoever made it is bad. Even the colour choices and contrasts and highlights are terrible. It's the UI equivalent of asking a blind toddler to do your interior decorating.

Give me a heads up when they get a new designer in and it gets an overhaul.
