Lots of easily accessible Gallium? Or is it one of those rare earth metals where 80% of it is in one random third world country using the income to fund a long running war?

Roughly as common as zinc and copper in the upper crust. Mainly sourced from bauxite, which is energy-intensive to process.

Almost 1/3 of bauxite reserves are in Guinea (west Africa) which had a military coup last month.

Yes and sort of. It's not produced in great quantities because there isn't a whole lot of demand for it and what is produced 95% of it comes out of China. It's a byproduct from bauxite when producing aluminium, it can be made anywhere really.

But since the production is so small (400-450 tons) if there's a sudden increase in demand it would take years before refining capacity caught up.

There's lots of cases of good research being done and data collected but without many sexy outcomes so it never gets published. There are also 'trendy' things to write about which leads to journal bias towards various topics.

There are a load of things being done by the open science movement which are definitely interesting to discuss, publishing fees in many journals being a pretty important one.

Love the concept but none of this will have any mass appeal until the batteries last more than 5 minutes

It absolutely does - I always piss against trees, and I've never been bothered by wolves.

Wolves are, at least here, extremely hard to relocate. They got their territory and their getting (back) to their territory no matter that fuck what.

That said, been awhile since I heard/read about gov trying this so maybe I'm misinformed these days.

We got wolves back in NL after a decade long project and millions of euro's. Looks good on paper. The idea is that they will hunt Deer, dispersing the deer from a limited area of fertile ground that they are grazing to desert. Good idea.

The stupid animal wont do what we want me to do tho instead they wonder around in small villages scaring the fuck out of citizens and killing sheep.
Not just to eat but also just for the kill. That damn instinct right. So now we are putting up a few hundred kilometers of fences costing a few million again but it turns out the wolf can jump higher than expected and they are also willing to walk a lot further to go around the fence eat/kill sheep and go back home.

Its almost like NL doesnt have any 'wild' nature left since around 1800 and it is just one big managed park like ecologist have been saying for a century but Greenpeace and World wildlife fund won the political discussion and now here we are. 2 wolves have already been shot by farmers and the police are trying to find the shooters.
